Position Title: Data & Assessment Specialist Qualifications: Required: High School Diploma; excellent clerical and computer skills including Excel; good telephone skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and exceptional attention to details. SUMMARY: The Data & Assessment Specialist will provide appropriate support services to the Data & Assessment office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

1. Organize and maintain documentation of ECS’ ethical testing and security training for approximately 1,200 employees. 2. Assist with the coordination and distribution of tests and reports for ISTEP+, ISTAR, IREAD-3, ACCESS, NWEA, CogAT High Ability Assessments, Accuplacer, End of Course Assessments and any other district- wide assessments conducted by Elkhart Community Schools. 3. Collaborate with Student Services to assist with the coordination of tests for ISTEP+, ISTAR, IREAD-3, ACCESS, NWEA, CogAT High Ability Assessments, Accuplacer, End of Course Assessments, and any other district-wide assessments conducted by Elkhart Community Schools. 4. Coordinate and manage the packaging and preparation of paper test documents for shipping, and subsequent scoring for ISTEP+, ISTAR, IREAD-3, ACCESS, NWEA, CogAT High Ability Assessments, Accuplacer, End of Course Assessments and any other district-wide assessments conducted by Elkhart Community Schools. 5. Coordinate and manage the mailing of student test results to parents for ISTEP+, ISTAR, IREAD-3, ACCESS, NWEA, CogAT High Ability Assessments, Accuplacer, End of Course Assessments and any other district-wide assessments conducted by Elkhart Community Schools. 6. Maintain a high level of knowledge and skills related to online assessments. 7. Patiently support school users of online assessments using thorough questioning in order to arrive at solutions. 8. Maintain a high level of knowledge and skills related to data to meet the district’s needs. 9. Assist with the annual data collection and reporting to the Office of Civil Rights. 10. Coordinate and manage the accurate collection of student enrollment information. Must be able to work with school personnel to trouble-shoot and resolve discrepancies. These figures are used to help determine the school district’s amount of state support, and are audited by the State Board of Accounts every two years. 11. Coordinate and manage the collection and dissemination of data to support the partnership between Boys and Girls Clubs of Elkhart County, Inc., and Elkhart Community Schools. 12. Assist in the preparation of Department of Education (DOE) reports. 13. Assist in collection of data requests and work with the Director of Data & Assessment to determine the details of how the requests will be handled. 14. Assist in general office duties including but not limited to answering phones, supplying office materials, scheduling of rooms, and handling US and interoffice mail. 15. Other duties, as assigned.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as computer software manuals and procedure manuals. Ability to write procedures for employees and communications to employees; ability to communicate with employees to train and the ability to translate other’s rough ideas into polished pieces.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form and the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities: Experience working with computers is necessary; Microsoft Office is preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community and the ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of School Trustees.

This job requires the ability to respond to multiple demands at the same time. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be expected to work at a computer for several hours at a time. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Driving a vehicle to conduct work at school sites and Kent Street is required. Some non-standard work hours may be necessary.
