The Elizabeth Foundation (TEF) is an independent UK charity that works in partnership with the Audiology team of Portsmouth Hospitals Trust (PHT). The charity has premises next door to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, where this role will be based.

A vacancy has arisen for a part-time post to assist with Newborn Hearing Screening administration, and to provide clerical/other support to screening and paediatric Audiology clinics. Approximately 9 hours per week are required, to be worked over Mondays and Wednesdays, or Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Another part- time role already exists for Tuesdays and Fridays, and the two posts need to work in effective liaison to together deliver the tasks indicated in the Job Description. As an employee of The Elizabeth Foundation, the successful candidate will also be expected to develop an interest in and awareness of the charity’s wider work with deaf children and their families. The TEF line manager for the role is the Director of Resources, and for day to day duties the role works closely with the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP) Local Manager who is employed by PHT. Effective newborn screening administration aims to help ensure that all babies in the area are offered a timely newborn hearing screen which is properly recorded and followed-up.

Full training will be provided, including on-the-job coaching but also including formal training as necessary from the PHT technology training department in order to be awarded the required access to hospital computer systems (PAS) and other systems which need to be used as a crucial part of the job. Accurate and efficient clerical skills are essential, as well as a friendly, reliable and flexible approach to work. Good interpersonal skills are required as the role will have contact with families who have newborn babies and small children.

Applications should be made by completing an application form (submission of a CV is optional, but a full application form is essential) which can be downloaded from our website www.elizabeth-foundation.org or requested by contacting Mikela Callaway at TEF on 023 9237 2735 ([email protected]). Interviews are likely to be held in early September.
