Group Assignment

A group is a number of people or things that are located close together or are considered or classed together. (https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=group+definition) I have been a member of many groups throughout my entire life. Almost all of the groups that I have been a part of were involved in sports, whether it was playing for a club team or high school sport. The sports that I have played throughout my life were soccer, football, basketball, and my favorite, baseball. My role in each sport that I played was to show what I can do on the field or court very well in a position that my coach would put me at so we as a team, we can win a game with the best players that play a specific position. My role in the group changes a little bit from time to time, depending on the situation we have. Usually, I can play more than one position in a game.

So, if we were short a person because of an injury or an emergency and one of my teammates cannot make it, I can step up and fill in for his spot and give it all I can so we as a group can win together as one unity. The advantages of playing for a group in sports in high school is playing with my friends that love the sport as much as I do. We all know how to play and while school is in session, we can’t wait to hear the final bell ring that signals that school is over and it’s time to go out onto the field or court and work hard so by the time it’s game time, we are ready to perform what we have been doing all practice to prepare for our game. The disadvantages of playing in a group in sports in high school is when I see one of my teammates not taking it seriously and he is only there to just mess around and waste everybody’s time. If you are not going to take it seriously, then just leave. Everyone is here to work hard, get better, and WIN!

When I played in high school, my coaches had some strict rules. They do not tolerate any misbehaviors in the classroom. School comes first, then sports. If we go detention or suspended for any reason, as a team, we would run and that person would be benched next game, no excuses. Also, they don’t like us being late at all. If we know that we are going to be late, we would have to let them know in advance. Otherwise, no excuse and we would run at the end of practice. To maintain a status in our group, if we don’t accomplish the goals we wanted to, we work hard in the offseason. By the time next season comes around, we will be ready because we worked hard and nothing will stand in our way until we get what we want.
