She is survived by her husband of 64 years Hal Lynch Jr. and by her four children: Hal Lynch III (Brian), Helen Lynch Cooper (Charles), William Lynch (Jeanie), and Robert Lynch (Ann). She is also survived by her sister, Helen Ladd Thompson of Honolulu, Hawaii, and brother, William F. Thompson III (Gerry) of Plymouth, Massachusetts, as well as by grandchildren Bryce Cooper, Adra Cooper Lobdell (Tyler), Conrad Lynch (Katie), Lindsay Lynch, Amanda Lynch, Adam Lynch, great-granddaughter Lucy Lynch, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was born Frances Antoinette Leimamo Thompson in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 6, 1929 to parents William F. Thompson Jr. and Helen Niaukololani Antoinette Rosa. She grew up in Honolulu and as a child witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. In 1951 she met Hal Lynch Jr. while he was stationed in Honolulu while serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. They were married in 1953.
Her strongest passion from an early age was her music and she was a very gifted singer and multi-instrumentalist. She often used her musical talents and hula skills to entertain friends and family and especially enjoyed being asked to sing her moving rendition of the Hawaiian Wedding song at countless weddings over the years, often as a duet with her eldest son Hal III. She was an active member of Riverside Baptist Church in Jacksonville and was also an avid Gator fan, usually in attendance at most of their home games. Always athletic from an early age, she was an energetic golfer, frequently competing in many tournaments, often winning her category. She was also particularly proud of her abilities as a pilot and enjoyed flying her own airplane for many years.
The family is especially indebted and grateful to the caretakers who worked tirelessly to assure Frances' comfort and well-being during her final weeks and months at home. They are: Mellownease Edwards, Diane Reed, Diane Willis, Berline Desauguste and Gloria Brown.
