Minutes of the last meeting and matters arising

Organigram has now been sent out to all the LIGs.

LD courses in the New Forest – Jill

There are no LD courses in the New Forest next term at Brockenhurst college. Jill gave copies of the emails that she has received to everyone at the LIG. The group felt it was appalling.

Madeleine is going to write to the college (Di Roberts) on behalf of the LIG. Anyone else who wants to do the same, please do.

Page 1 of 5 Partnership Board matters

We discussed relationships chapter at the Partnership Board. Jess is going to ask someone from Public Health to get in touch with the groups.

We talked about the ratings for the review plan. most people agreed with the ratings.

Robert enjoyed the meeting.

Notes of the meeting will be available soon.

Launchpad – Pam Hall & Natalie Kitcher (MacIntyre)

MacIntyre has been established in Eastleigh for the past 7 years and it is a well established group.

Fernmount (New Milton) was closed 2 years ago and MacIntyre have been co-working with Dimensions.

Launchpad: people chose an activity which is shared with other people. People generally feel more confident and are part of the community. They know more people too. There is generally more choice for people with cooking and living skills on the Thursday. They are also talking to someone in Lyndhurst about volunteering/gardening. Pam said it was early days. The new contract was allocated at the beginning of July. They are currently recruiting and are ”in transition”. They are also reviewing the transport and travel. The scheme comprises of about 40 people, 4 groups Monday to Thursday. Some people don’t come every day. Advocacy has been involved in the reviews. The winter tends to be more limited for activities.

How realistic are the groups? most people knew each other from Fernmount days. They shared common interest. People can move groups and have some flexibility. Groups are fairly well established. Natalie is constantly looking for things to do. she is confident that service users would say something if they did not get it right. Pam added that the need to know if something is not right so that they can put it right so please ring the office.

Page 2 of 5 Payment for activities: most people cannot pay for an activity morning and afternoon and go for lunch. If issues, we need to review activities with commissioners and care managers. Jill said some costs can be taken off from contribution expenses but it is on a client by client basis (there is no list as such of what is allowed and not allowed).

Jill said that Matthew does not enjoy Launchpad. It is not local enough and not meaningful and Matthew is making up the numbers. Jill was asked to get a review. There is only 1 group in Ringwood. Jill would like to know who supports Mat and also have a telephone number. If you know of good activities, please email the office.

Most people can be referred by the care management team. Launchpad does not run on bank holiday.

Flo to arrange for the financial assessment team to come to the LIG.

Annual Health Checks (AHC) – Maria Cook

Maria gave us an update on the current number of AHCs being completed by GP Practices.

Figures are pulled out of the system so these figures are not figures from GP surgeries.

Target is 75% by 2020. Ideally 100% would be nice.

Work with surgeries:

 Work with Health facilitators  Have had a Local Medical Council event on 13th June. 140 GPs came to the conference.

Page 3 of 5  Targeting events in the local areas.  Training at GP surgeries  “Annual Health check” poster created (sent)  New NHS England template (the old Cardiff tool)  Visiting/developing LD Friendly GP practices.

The surgeries get £140 extra per AHC delivered.

GP LD friendly surgeries: high goals. They need 75% of annual health checks, correct information for carers/people with LD, audit, accessible information leaflet, home visits or a quiet place for people with anxiety or autism etc. reasonable adjustments.

Andover area is still one area where more work is required.

Tanya would like more easy read leaflets for everything.

Jill mentioned the health action plan where recommendations are not followed up. Recommendations should be followed up with follow up appointments.

For a good annual health check, a service user needs to be accompanied by someone who knows them well. Agency staff is not sufficient.

Anything else:

Teresa reminded the group of the old £5 note, no longer being legal tender.

Some technical words for the group:

Resource allocation system (RAS) – old self assessment tool that would produce an indicative budget on how your needs could be met.

CFC: care funding calculator (HCC do not use) – cost calculating tool that can be used for residential care that breaks down needs and hotel costs which produces an indicative price

South East regional cost model (HCC use) - cost calculating tool that can be used for residential care that breaks down needs and hotel costs which produces an indicative price

SNA – support needs analysis (HCC use) – internal document that calculates levels of direct care needs.

Page 4 of 5 Richard would like to have more information about relationships.

Martin would like to discuss issues with elderly carers. There is no contingency plan for most people. When you become a bit older, energy is flagging. Might be good to discuss at the Board or have a conference. Jill said we need robust planning to be in place. We pick up all the care issues including finance. We need to have things in place.

Liz: Gateway award scheme. It is free.

Have a lovely summer!
