County Reading Group Sets at Burton Library

The Reading group sets for the county are housed at Burton Library. An updated list of holdings will be sent out to libraries once every 6 months. All readers groups, library and community based should have access to a copy. The library where the readers group is based is responsible for providing the list to their group.

To request a reading group set email [email protected] Requests for reading group sets cannot be taken by telephone.

Before you send your email you may check the catalogue to see if the set you are requesting is available. This speeds up the process if your set is already on loan. If the set is available this is not a guarantee that we can send it, as we may be in the process of sending out a request, but it does at least speed up the process when the set is clearly on loan already.

In your email please return the form on page 2.

All sets will be issued for 3 months. No renewals will be permitted. If sets or individual copies are returned after this time overdue charges will apply at the current daily rate.

Please DO NOT place requests on Galaxy for additional copies, apart from the Reading Group set, before the set copies have been issued to you. This applies to any item with the same ISBN as the RG set copies.

When the set is returned it must be sent back to Burton Library. Please do not pass sets directly to other libraries.

Libraries should not stockpile sets for the months ahead as sets may be required by other groups.

Reading groups can use titles from general stock but should not request titles which are new, in heavy demand, or have multiple individual requests against them.

For community groups who come into the library please begin to use the form on page 2. This will help us provide a suitable alternative should their first choice not be available.

Request Charges

There is NO request charge for RG set copies for library based reading groups. Community groups pay £3 per set borrowed. Additional copies can be requested by community and library based reading groups free of charge.  Our Reading Group sets are very well used by reading groups across the county. Therefore your first choice of set may not be available. By giving us 3 choices we hope to be able to provide at least one. If you only request one title we will assume you do not require an alternative.  There will be a £3 charge for each set issued. Additional copies of titles in the reading group set list can be requested free of charge from the library catalogue in order to make up a set large enough to meet the reading group’s needs. Reading groups can use titles from general stock at a cost of 50p per item but requests will not be accepted for items that are new, in heavy demand, or have multiple individual requests against them.  Reading group sets will be issued for 3 months and cannot be renewed. If sets or individual copies are returned after this time overdue charges will apply at the current daily rate.  Please allow 10 working days for your request to be processed  Please return reading group sets to your local library.
