Option 1 (Video Or Voice Recording)

Book Talk Time!

This is the last 9 weeks, so let’s make it a fun one! I want you to choose a book to read during our SSR time and at home. You are able to pick any genre you would like as long as your book has 150 pages. You will be using this book to create a QR code that will provide a link directly to you sharing this book with your classmates. Technically, you aren’t physically presenting in front of the class, but you are sharing your favorite aspects of the book with your classmates. The following topics must be included in your Book Talk:

I would like the information presented a specific way. I prefer the QR code or Flipagraph/Animoto, but if you do not have access to creating this on a computer or electronic device, you may choose option 3. (***I MUST HAVE A PARENT NOTE IF YOU CHOOSE A POWEPOINT***) If choosing a Powerpoint, it must be at least 12 slides with transitions and photographs on EACH slide:

Option 1 (Video or Voice Recording): Part 1: 8 ½ x 11 paper with an illustration from the novel. (NOT the cover of the novel) You must include the following: -Title -Author -Written excerpt that you chose from the book Part 2: You will now create a voice recording or video recording of yourself, including all of the requirements from the box above. You may have these previously answered and read them into the recorder; however, if you video, I would like eye contact with the audience viewing you through the camera. STEP1: Record your voice or video. If you are using a phone or device, you can email them to an email address and save it to a computer. You cannot stop at this step. STEP 1: Use the saved audio or video file that you emailed to a computer. I have found the following two websites helpful in generating an actual website address to use for the creation of the QR Code: Video: Vimeo (free to sign up) Audio: Vocaroo (you do not have to sign up) STEP 3: http://qrcode.kaywa.com/dashboard/ or you may use any QR code generating website (free to sign up for Kayway). This will be printed off and pasted to Part 1.

Option 2: (Technology photo sharing- Animoto or Flipagram) STEP 1: Take photos of people/objects/drawings on paper/etc. revealing all of the requirements in the box above. For example, if you think one of the main characters looks like your brother, have him hold a piece of paper with the character’s name and a description of that character. Then you will simply take a picture and add it to a slide in the Flipagram or Animoto program. You must have 12 slides.

Option 3: Powerpoint You must include all of the above bulleted information in the box at the top of this page within the Powerpoint. Requirements: ~Photos ~Transitions between slides ~APPROPRIATE MUSIC would be a wonderful addition!

Voice recording directions: (If you are recording directly to the website, skip to Step 3 and simply record instead of uploading your file from the computer.) 1) Email the voice recording to an email address. 2) Open your voice recording through your email and save it to the computer. 3) Open Mozilla Firefox and go to www.vocaroo.com. 4) Click on “or upload?” (click on record if you are recording directly to website). 5) A web address should now be created for you underneath the “sharing options” section. Click on it to highlight the whole web address. Right click to copy the link. 6) AT THIS POINT, YOU CHOOSE THE WEBSITE FOR A QR CODE GENERATOR. (there are a TON available… qrcode.kaywa.com, QRstuff.com, createqrcode.appspot.com, etc…) 7) Go to the QR code generating website and paste your link in the appropriate section. Some websites give you options for how you want your QR code to look, but they all serve the same purpose. 8) Print it! You will need to paste it to the back of your 8 ½ x 11 page drawing from the novel.

Video directions: 1) Email the video to an email address. 2) Open your voice recording through your email and save it to the computer. 3) Open Mozilla Firefox and go to www.vimeo.com. 4) You will have to create a free account first. Next, click on “Upload a Video,” and it will generate a website for you. You will copy the web address and follow steps 6-8 on the above instructions.
