1 2 223. USE OF MOTOR VEHICLES 3 4 5 1. Purpose The Joint Operating Committee regards the use of motor vehicles for 6 travel to and from school by students as an assumption of responsibility 7 by parents/guardians and students. 8 9 10 2. Authority The Joint Operating Committee shall permit the use of motor vehicles by 11 students in accordance with the Center’s rules, provided that such 12 students have followed established procedures and obtained the 13 required permit and have been granted permission by the building 14 administrator to drive a motor vehicle on school grounds. 15 16 The Joint Operating Committee prohibits the use of mini-bikes, 17 recreational vehicles, motorcycles or skateboards on school property. 18 19 The Joint Operating Committee shall not be responsible for motor 20 vehicles that are lost, stolen, or damaged. 21 22 23 3. Delegation The Administrative Director or designee shall develop rules and 24 of regulations for operating and parking of motor vehicles and shall 25 Responsibility disseminate those rules to affected students. 26 27 The Administrative Director or designee shall establish standards for 28 granting permits, which contain the warning that infraction of rules may 29 result in revocation of the permit and/or other disciplinary action. 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 Page 1 of 2 2 3 39 40 41

1 2 3 The Joint Operating Committee authorizes the administration to conduct 4 motor vehicle searches when the school has a compelling interest in 5 protecting and preserving the health, safely or welfare of the school 6 population 7 8 Searches conducted by the administration may include but not be limited 9 to the utilization of police officers, including canine officers to protect the 10 health, safety and welfare of the school population. 11 12 13 14 References: School Code- 24 P.S.
