SUBJ: NJROTC ANNUAL INSPECTION: September 25th, 2013

Dear Parents/Guardians;

Our Annual Inspection this year will be held on Wednesday, 25 September 2013. The event consists of a personnel inspection, a pass-in-review, and an audit of the administration of the program. Every cadet in the unit is reviewed during the Personnel Inspection. Your child’s appearance directly affects the overall performance review of the unit. Therefore, it is imperative that our cadets look their best. Your child should be making a conscious effort to prepare for the inspection. Your child’s Navy Service Uniform should be turned in to the cleaners as soon as possible. The Navy Service uniform consists of the tan shirt, white crew neck t-shirt, black trousers, black socks, black belt, and black garrison cap. The shirt must have military creases. Cadets should also ensure that their belt buckle and tip shine, and are not scratched, their shoes are polished and dressed, that their ribbons/belts are not faded, etc. We have given the cadets a full two weeks from the last uniform day so that they may address these issues and correct them well in advance of the inspection. Also, ensure your cadet has studied and memorized their chain of command, general orders to the sentry and uniform regulations prior to the inspection date. The Personnel Inspection will take place during first and second periods in the gym. Because the Personnel Inspection is such a long and uneventful operation, it will not be performed before the audience. Parents and other family members are welcome to attend the pass-in-review portion of the Annual Inspection. There will be some very high profile dignitaries at the pass-in-review portion of the ceremony and it would be nice for them to see that the unit is well supported by its school and parents. We have arranged for the pass in review to begin at approximately 11:15 AM. Please plan to arrive between 10:45 and 11:00 and find seating on the home side of the stadium. Do not come by NJROTC to see your child. We will be engaged in the Personnel Inspection and do not need the added distraction. If the weather proves to be inclimate on this day, the pass-in-review will take place in the gym. Lunch will be provided to your child on inspection day by the NJROTC Booster Club In addition to the actual inspection, we will be having a practice periods on all of next week. In addition, we will need your cadet to bring their shoes, shoe shine kit, belt buckle and brasso to class on Wednesday, 12 September. After you and your cadet have reviewed the above information please affix both your signatures below and return the bottom portion of this document to NJROTC no later than Wednesday, 11th September. This will count as a homework grade for your child. Thank you for your time and cooperation in this matter.
