World Travel Service recommends verifying fees and policies with your airline prior to travel.  Travelers originating in the US are typically permitted to carry onboard one bag plus one small personal item free of charge.  Domestic rates typically apply to travel to any of the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Canada and Mexico.  Travelers who have earned premium or elite status with the airlines frequent flyer programs may be exempt from these fees.  Additional/higher fees may apply when baggage fees paid at airport instead of during online check in.
