1 Directions on how to Submit to Webmaster For your WAOW Member’s Page

Please provide ALL the information on the form, as we strive for consistency with the member pages. 1. Complete the Submission Form (pages 3 and 4 for associates, and page 3,4,5 for signature members) with information as you want it to appear on your web page: name, city & state, a short bio ( 250 words or less, please) and the following information for each piece of artwork: Title, size, medium, price and framing information (2D work) and edition number for sculptures (3D with limited editions), and about 30 words describing the piece (as indicated on the form). Be aware that WAOW prefers to post only originals, not prints of work. If prints are available as well, however, I will add “contact the artist about prints”

2. Prepare your jpg images as follows: Notes: Associate Members are allowed two (2) works on their member page Signature Members and above are allowed four (4) works on their member page

Submit two (2) jpg files of each image: A thumbnail and a large image. If you are on a mac, try to put your images in a folder before you email them to me. On a PC, please ATTACH, not insert, your image into the email. If they are inserted they cause a lot of extra work. ATTACH, please.

The image should fit within the following maximum dimensions:  Thumbnail: shortest side should be no more than 100 pixels  Large image: shortest side should be no more than 270 pixels

• ABOUT IMAGE SIZE – Image resolution: Make sure your resolution is 300 dpi or above BEFORE you change the pixel width. Then do not change the resolution…only change the pixel width. If you lower the resolution, and THEN change the pixel width, I will have blurry images to work with.

Some cameras take very large images but they are in low (72 dpi) resolution. Change the resolution to 300 before changing the pixel width or I will have blurry images to work with. Also – any trouble, please don’t hesitate to email. [email protected] If you have Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Elements…resizing is easily done in Photoshop in the “image,” “image size” window: There are many softwares that will resize an image for you. Some are free like http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm . Picasa will also resize, and so will Microsoft “Paint” that comes preloaded on most computers. Be sure to ask for help if necessary however. We do not want members who cannot resize their images NOT to have a page on the site.

TITLE YOUR IMAGES CORRECTLY: Save images in jpeg format, and be consistent: Never use a # or any other symbol in titling your work. Do not copyright it before sending the image. Or “lock” the image or we cannot use it. Name your thumbnail with a TH suffix – see example: yourlastname.firstinitial- title_TH.jpg Name your large image with an LG suffix, and abbreviate any long titles – see example below. 3. Email the WAOW Web Site Members Page Submission Form (pages 3, 4 & 5 of this doc) with your attached images to Nori Thorne at ([email protected]).

4. Once your page is up, if you have a correction, email Nori at [email protected]

We would like to also note: Please do not send a pdf form of the website submission form, as I then have to RETYPE it ALL.

• You should write your own artist’s statement (50 - 200 words, maximum) and include it in the Members’ Page Submission Form. We strive to have complete member pages! • You should size your images correctly (two images for assoc. members and four for sig. members). Please do not send more than what is allowed.

Following these steps will assure a quick and accurate creation or update of your members’ page. I will try to get it loaded in a timely manner.

Thank you, Nori Thorne:WAOW webmistress [email protected]

NOTE: DO NOT SEND YOUR FORM AS A PDF OR I HAVE TO RETYPE IT ALL. SEND IT AS A WORD OR OPEN TEXT DOC, OR IF NECESSARY TYPE IT INTO THE BODY OF AN EMAIL THANKS! 3 WAOW Web Site Members Page: Submission Form

There is so much beauty in the simple things in everyday life. They say a picture is worth one thousand words. I believe a painting can make that picture a symphony evoking intense emotion - just like a good story teller. When I paint a scene I strive to be that story teller by accentuating the mood through color and contrast to capture the viewers imagination. Painting studies en plein-air is the best way to feel the intamacies of the moment and record true color that a photograph just can’t capture. In my studio I use the study to create larger paintings.

“When I paint I get completely involved and find the experience intensely personal.”
