Irene Villa was a normally little girl that in 1991 was born for second time.
This woman is one of many ETA’s victims. Her story happened on the 17 of October 1991 in Madrid. It must was a normally day. She was going to the school with her mother by car when a bomb exploited under their car. Fortunately they didn’t die but this horrible terrorist attack, like Irene says, gave her two lifes: before the accident and after it. Irene and her mother lost their lefts and she lost 3 fingers too.
Her photo in the hospital was striking, moving and unfair for many people. She should to hate the people to almost kill her and her mother but she says that has forgotten them, simply. She doesn’t feel hurt about her lucky but (sino que) she only wants to enjoy the present with a look on the future.
In her life there are a lot people that she thanks their help but in special to doctors, because in her life and now, she has to surgery a lot of times and she says that always she passes through an operating room is for better.
In the present she is degree in Communication Studies and Psychology. But the most incredible is that she makes sports and also extreme sports like sky or diving. She thinks that the doctor that doubted to save her life or no with the conditions that she arrived to the hospital hallucinate and he probably says: Wooow this woman who almost let to die!
Other Irene’s project for the future is to be mother.
She is a writer too. She has written a book call “Saber que se puede” so what better than finish this story with a sentence of its protagonist?
«There aren’t any excuses for that the disabled can’t be that we want to be. I lost my lefts, but I got something more valuable: the love and the hot of many people and a lot of new experiences».
«No hay excusas para que los discapacitados no seamos lo que queramos ser. Yo me quedé sin piernas, pero adquirí algo más valioso: el cariño y el calor de muchísima gente y un montón de experiencias nuevas».
