Waukee, Iowa – The Waukee Area Arts Council is proud to announce that internationally known artist and Waukee native Steve Gerberich will be our special guest artist at the Waukee Arts Festival, Sunday July 10th. Waukee Arts Festival will run from Noon until 8 pm in Centennial Park in conjunction with the “Sundays in Centennial” concert series. The event will consist of local artists, food & beverage vendors, a Farmer’s Market, and live music throughout. The Sundays in Centennial concert will feature The Maytags and will cap the day’s entertainment from 6 - 8 pm.

Gerberich will have several works on display throughout the Festival and will conduct “Gerb’s Garage” a workshop for the kids. The kids can try their hands at creating creatures and sculptures out of knickknacks, hardware and found objects.

Gerberich creates interactive mechanical sculptures to state it in the simplest terms. “But there is nothing simple about Steve’s art,” said Cindy DePond, Director of the Waukee Area Arts Council. “He sees faces, animals and possibilities in ordinary items and ways in which to combine them into something new and exciting – and then he makes it all move!!”
