Electronic Reader Policy

Electronic Reader Policy

Dear Parents, 2/22/12

In an effort to increase technology use inside and outside the classroom, students will be allowed to use electronic readers at school when independently reading in the classroom or the library. Electronic readers offer many advantages to students, compared to paper books. In the same amount of space that a print book takes up, an e-reader can potentially contain thousands of e-books; it is limited only by its memory capacity. Examples of acceptable electronic readers are Kindles, Kindle Fires, Nooks, I-Pads, and Zooms. Electronic readers will then be used at the discretion of the classroom teacher or librarian. The teacher/librarian will decide the appropriate time to use the device.

If you and your student are interested in the use of electronic readers at school, both you and your child must read the expectations on the following page and sign the contract. The signed contract needs to be returned to your child’s homeroom teacher, and a copy of the contract will be sent home. In addition, please take a moment to read over the Allen ISD Acceptable Use Policy that was signed at the beginning of the school year as part of the Student Handbook for further understanding of disciplinary action that may take place in response to a violation of this contract.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher.

Sincerely,

Bolin Administration ELECTRONIC READER CONTRACT / PERMISSION SLIP
