Writing Write a Letter o Write a letter to one of the characters in the conversations. Give the character some advice or tell them what you think about a topic. Create Questions o Choose an article. Then write five questions about the articles. When you are finished ask a classmate or friend to answer your questions. Pick a Character o If you could be a character from one of this month’s stories, which character would you be? Why?
Speaking Pictionary o Choose a vocabulary word from an article. Don’t tell anyone which word you have chosen. Ask your friends or classmates to guess the word. Draw pictures on the board to help them guess. Talk to a Friend o Ask a friend questions about one of the lessons. What did they learn? Did they agree with what the people in the story said? Why or why not? What would they do if they were in a similar situation? Sentence Pictionary o Divide the class into 2 teams. Have one student from each team go up to the front of the class. Give the student a simple sentence. The student must draw different things on the board while their teammates try to guess the sentence. Teams compete against each other for points.
Skills 3N-3V-3Adj o Choose an article. Circle 3 nouns, underline 3 verbs and draw a square around 3 adjectives. Usage Tip o Choose two Usage Tips. Each Usage Tip has words bolded in red. Write two different sentences for each Usage Tip using the bolded words. o the reading to hear the teacher’s pronunciation. Write each word two times. Tenses o Choose five sentences from the lessons. Which tenses are the sentences written in (past, present, future)? How do you know?
