Thomas Edison K8 School Mission and Vision: The Edison K8 School is committed to providing its students with a rigorous, inclusive academic experience in a safe, nurturing, inclusive atmosphere that creates a sense of belonging for students, families and staff. The Edison K8 is committed to harnessing the power of the arts as a way to drive student achievement. Roles and Responsibility of Interns:

● Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, grade level team, learning specialists and other service providers to support student learning and family collaboration ● Support inclusion practices and/or emotional impairment practices ● Provide targeted interventions in reading and or math for students struggling to meet benchmarks using an RTI model ● Collect and monitor data to track student academic and behavioral progress ● Work with other staff member to implement our PBIS model and hold all students accountable to our 5R core values of Respect, Responsibility, Resourcefulness, Righteousness and Rigor. ● Participate in grade level team meetings to build understanding of curriculum and pedagogy, participate in planning and develop Common Core Standards-based activities for students ● Engage in reflective practice; identify both personal and program goals and work collaboratively with staff and administration to achieve them; Assist with and actively participate in self-evaluation process ● Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal or grade level team ● Establish and maintain regular communication with parents, staff (including classroom teachers) and program volunteers/partners; report any work-related issues or concerns to the Program Director.

The Edison is seeking interns to specialize in the following areas: ● Emotional Impairment Support K-5 ● Inclusion support in grades K-8

Support and supervision is provided by a team of experienced teachers and administrators including a Nationally Board Certified Educator with licenses in Special Education, Reading and ESL.

Schedule: The work schedule for interns is from 8:00am to 3:00 pm daily with opportunities for flex-time to support before or afterschool programming. Interns will follow the same schedule as Boston Public School employees. Interns are paid for their year of service.
