Registration Some 480 people signed up for the Underground Construction Prague international conference, with 460 actually taking part, 93% of them men and only 7% women.

Participants came from all over the world, both from Europe and overseas. The majority were from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and neighbouring countries, such as Germany or Austria. A large number of delegates also came from Poland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

There were 10 speakers invited; alongside 2 Czech representatives, they came from Germany, Austria, France, the United Kingdom and Norway.

The ITA-AITES president, professor In-Mo Lee, from Korea, also took part in the conference as a special guest.

Overview of Participants by Country Registration Fees The registration fee differed depending on the time of registration, with a reduced, standard or late registration fee. For sponsors it was free of charge within their sponsorship packages, as it was for the invited speakers and guests. There were also special fees for representatives from the authorities and students.

Programme for 14-15 June 2010 For the formal opening of the conference on the morning of Monday 14 June 2010, we heard:  MUDr. Pavel Bém, mayor of the City of Prague, under whose auspices the conference was held;  Prof. Inn-Mo Lee, president of the ITA-AITES international tunnelling association;  Mr. Ivana Hrdina, Czech Tunnelling Association chairman and ITA-AITES vice- president;  Dr. Alexandr Butovič, chairman of the conference preparatory committee.

The technical programme was split into two days, where the first morning was a meeting for everyone and the afternoon programme was split into two parallel sections. The second day had a programme in parallel sections for the whole day. There were 60 speeches given over the duration of the conference, including 4 key-note lectures and 7 invited lectures in six sections. In total, 16 posters were received and presented in the Kepler Hall. Overall, 171 contributions were sent by authors from 25 countries for the conference proceedings. Conference materials included a printed version of the conference proceedings contributions in English, including an e-version on CD. The CD also includes Czech and Slovak contributions in the original languages. ______

Social Programme On the eve of the conference, a meeting of members of the board of CzTA ITA-AITES took place, with members of the conference preparatory committee and important foreign participants, representatives of the public authorities and representatives of investor, project and contractor organisations. The reception took place in the Residence of the mayor of City of Prague, with 120 invited guests taking part.

A social evening for all registered participants, accompanying parties, sponsors and exhibitors took place in the historic Břevnov Monastery on Monday 14 June, with 520 people taking part in the reception.
