The curriculum sources listed here are the most often used or have been around for a long time. This is by no means an exhaustive list but if you are new to homeschooling, it is a list that won’t exhaust you! Before buying anything, talk with other homeschooling parents to get their recommendations and ask why something did or did not work for them. Children have different learning styles and what works well for one child may not work at all for another. Ask your church school administrator for recommendations. You may also want to consider going to the Alabama homeschool convention in the summer. You can attend the meetings for information and encouragement or simply go to the curriculum hall. Vendors from all major publishers are there and you can look at the books before making a decision. Convention information will be on the Christian Home Educators of Alabama website www.chefofalabama.org. All prices listed are approximate.
