Scholarships in Field of Aging Available

Troy, MI – The Senior Coordinating Aging Network (SCAN) of Oakland County is seeking applicants for several scholarships to be awarded in June 2009.

SCAN is a professional networking and advocate group serving older adults living in Oakland and Macomb counties. SCAN’s professional service providers and owners meet six times per year to learn from industry leaders, authors and trainers on the newest techniques and services available to enhance the quality of life for seniors today. Annual SCAN conferences bring top level national speakers and presenters to Michigan to promote the field of aging.

Each year the SCAN membership donates a portion of their dues toward the ongoing education of those individuals dedicated to higher education in the field of aging. The application process involves a simple 100-500 word essay and the application form completed and returned before June 20, 2009.

Requirements: 1. Must be working in the field of aging. 2. Must be attending an accredited school, enrolled in a program related to the field of aging. 3. Must be enrolled and attending school in the year 2009. 4. Must be 18 years or older. 5. Must be present at the SCAN meeting on August 25, 2009 to receive the award.

The SCAN Board will review applications to award a scholarship to selected individuals. To apply, submit the approved application form with a 100-500 word essay explaining why you should receive this scholarship.

What Do You Have to Do? Complete the application for Scholarship/Continuing Education in the Field of Aging for and return to SCAN by June 20, 2009 to the following address:

An independent committee chosen by the SCAN board will review and judge the application meeting the above criteria. All decisions are final. Scholarships will be dispersed for the purpose of paying tuition and books relating to courses in the field of aging.
