Cyrano de Bergerac Unit Project

Choose one of the following projects to complete based on our reading of Cyrano de Bergerac. The completed project is worth 40 points and will be due Friday March 14.

Roxanne’s Memory Book  Create a simulated memory book that might have been kept by Roxanne.  Entries should "reveal" Roxanne’s "true" feelings about love and what characteristics she is attracted to. They might also reveal her inner feelings about Christian and Cyrano at various points in the play.  The memory book should include at least one entry representing each of the five acts that are least one paragraph long. Remember, she changes her ideas about what love is during the play. Also, keep in mind that she did NOT know the truth about Cyrano and Christian until the very end of the play.  The memory book should "look and feel" like a memory book kept in the 1600’s. You might simulate old paper. You should include at least two mementos ("scraps" of things) or drawings, kind of like a scrapbook. You should attempt to write in a language style appropriate to the times. You should also make the "writing" look appropriate. HINT: This can be done on a computer if you choose an appropriate font style

Cyrano’s Character Collage  Create a collage using modern day imagery (cut from magazines, newspapers etc.) illustrating Cyrano’s character traits. You should also include some text (quotes from the book, titles, your own writing) and graphics (photos, drawings, etc)  Your collage should be larger than a sheet of paper, at least 1foot by 2 feet on card stock or poster board. It may be horizontal or vertical.  There should be very limited empty space. (Every inch should be informational)  There should be some discernible organization; for example all the romantic images are in same area.  Collages need to be accompanied by a one-paragraph paper explaining the contents and structure of the project. Paragraph should be typed and attached to the back of the collage.

Cyrano Storyboard  Create a storyboard that graphically displays at least five important events in the play. This can be like a comic strip where each square represents an important “moment” or scene from the play.  The drawing for each square should be in color.  Each square/ scene must have a brief explanation of what is happening in the scene and why it’s important to the plot of the play overall. Your explanation should be at least 3 sentences. Cyrano De Bergerac Project Rubric Name ______Diaz-Burns/ English 10
