About ALS Canada ALS Canada is seeking an energetic professional to join our Fund Development team. ALS Canada is a national organization responsible for the ALS Canada Research Program – funding peer- reviewed research grants and fostering collaboration amongst Canadian researchers, helping to nurture new ideas and build capacity. ALS Canada has a role in Ontario, similar to that of the Provincial Societies, providing services and support for people living within our provinces – we help fill the gaps between the healthcare system and needs of people living with ALS. We advocate federally, provincially and locally on behalf of Canadians and their families for better government support and access within the healthcare system.

Position Summary: Reporting to the VP, Fund Development, the Stewardship & Partnership Engagement Coordinator, participates in the development, management and implementation of the stakeholder relations program to support the objectives of the overall Fund Development department.

Under the supervision of the VP, Fund Development, the Stewardship & Partnership Engagement Coordinator works closely with other colleagues across the organization to plan and implement donor acknowledgement, stewardship and recognition that support the organization’s solicitation initiatives at all levels. The Stewardship & Partnership Engagement Coordinator will also cultivate relationships with partners and support various partnership initiatives (including developing new partnerships).

Responsibilities:  In collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders, improve and implement a comprehensive donor recognition program, including annual giving, mid-level, special events, partnerships and major and planned giving donors  Recommend and implement creative stewardship programs, in collaboration with other stakeholders  Recommend new programs, communication tools and activities to grow and/or streamline the current portfolio of recognition activities  Recommend, improve and implement appropriate mechanisms to acknowledge donors at all levels  Recommend and implement systematic, effective and appropriate stewardship and cultivation practices for partnership activities as well as seek out new partnership opportunities  Act as a resource person for all organizational staff on donor recognition and stewardship issues and activities  Maximize the use of Raiser’s Edge as a tool for documenting, opportunities tracking, implementing stewardship plans and tracking other donor stewardship related activities  Support the planning and execution of donor stewardship events and collaborate with colleagues to ensure events are successful and meet set objectives  Research best practices in donor relations for all programs and make recommendations for implementation through policy development and adherence  Act as an Ambassador throughout the Community, positively representing ALS Canada  Operate within the culture representing the core values and guiding principles of the organization  Provide various event day supports to Signature and Community Events as required  Do research and produce lists and reports as needed for planning and stewardship  Provide donor supports for events and annual giving

Qualifications & Experience:  A university degree or a combination of comparable skills and experience  Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in fundraising preferred  Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written)  Experience in major gift fundraising, donor recognition and stewardship  Excellent interpersonal skills and very strong person-to-person relationship-building skills  Experience working with volunteers and volunteer committees in a wide range of capacities  Experience working with corporate clients, senior staff and/or volunteer boards an asset  Proficient in the use of all corporate productivity tools including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Internet Explorer, and Raiser’s Edge or other donor database management systems  Keen understanding of current finance and accounting principles in the not-for-profit sector

Competencies & Skills:  Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands  Exemplary attention to detail with excellent planning, organizational and time management skills  Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times  Ability to travel and possess a valid G Class Driver’s License  Ability to speak and/or write in French an asset

Special Considerations:  Extended hours and weekend work are required from time to time  Some travel may be required to attend volunteer and stakeholder meetings  Must be available to work the weekends of the WALK for ALS events, as well as, Signature events
