Georgetown Rec Comm Minutes May 2, 2017

Georgetown Rec Comm Minutes May 2, 2017 The meeting was held on May 2. In attendance were Paul Morin, George Jamieson, Joyce DeVito and Lisa Reece Candidates Night will be held on June 6 at 7. --No contested races and one open seat for a 2-year term on the TOPMB. --Lisa will get School Use Form for the use of the Gym and ask Jason Lang to moderate --Joyce will bring water and cookies and Richard will get the announcement up on the Robinhood sign board Blessing of the Fleet-June 9 at Noon -- Lisa had samples of the t-shirt design by Woodex employee George. Would like to do 3-color (front and back) and upgrade to a nicer t-shirt. Lisa had samples of medium heather grey color. Might be too expensive to do both 3-color and nicer shirts since we are still only charging $10 a shirt and give away multiple shirts to boat captains. Discussed just upgrading shirts and have one color design. Lisa will continue to work on this with Kurt at AdWear and George. --Barry and Lauren are booked for the event as well as the Space Heater band. --Will need crates for the crate races and help at low tide the day before to fill them with seaweed. Lisa will contact Jimbo and Amy Lang for their help and others --Lisa will work with Barry on a list Georgetown Citizens we lost over the last year. --George is in charge of water safety and will be in the water with another diver that day. He will ask the Fire Department if they can or will be there with an emergency vehicle. George will have the dock padded for safety and a ladder system to get kids out of the water. --Cheryl will be in charge of balloons --Lisa will talk to Mark or Bill about setting up the grease pole. The committee agreed we could do without the pole and just have the crate races. But, it usually gets set-up by Mark when the time comes. --Paul will pick up tables (2), the banner and the shelter from the CC. He will also be in charge of the 2-way marine radio so the fisherman can hear Barry and Lauren during the ceremony. --Joyce will get the wreath for the ceremony. In exchange, we offer the wreath maker 2 lobsters. Will need a fisherman to donate these. Ideas? --There was some discussion about ordering a new banner. Lisa said she would look into it if she has time. Town Picnic August 1 at 5pm --In lieu of the GRC meeting in August we have an annual Picnic/Potluck at the Ipcar Preserve/Tennis courts. --Lisa will get the grill and have Cheryl at the store order hotdogs and buns. --Will need water and ice and coolers --Lisa will bring tables or we can get them from CC --Joyce will get marshmallows and sticks. --Paul said there is still wood in the shed for the fire pit. Do we need a fire permit? Other ideas and activities. --Lisa will check into getting Seadog tickets and will contact Ken (mailman) for Wiscasset Speedway tickets

Tide deadline is May 7--will have information about the Blessing and the Picnic in for the next issue

The GRC has a new member Lisa Donaldson who wasn’t able to make it tonight but will be at next meeting

Next meeting June 6 at 6 (tentative) before Candidate Night. Might have to be moved up if Lisa can’t get out of work.
