Owner and corporate officer of ceramics glaze manufacturer. Purchased company in 1989, and have begun acquisition strategy to grow business. Currently holds second place in market share in its industry. Responsible as a director for consulting to the marketing and sales functions.

Comfort Center Mattress Shops Huntington Beach, California Chairman of the Board 1992-1996

Owner and chairman of fast growing chain of mattress and bedding specialty stores. Negotiated distribution agreements with three key manufacturers, which enabled company to generate considerably more profits. Directly involved in all advertising decisions. Purchased five store chain, grew to twenty-one stores, before successful sale.

Metal Box International Chicago, Illinois Director and Corporate Secretary 1991-1995

Owner and officer of sheet metal fabricator of tool boxes, purchased in 1991. Developed successful marketing programs with major automobile manufacturers to sell MBI products as part of their offerings. Successfully sold company to largest customer.

Socks du Jour Santa Monica, California Chairman of the Board 1986-1990

Owner and chairman of entrepreneurial startup specialty store chain of socks and hosiery stores. Company grew to twenty-four stores, largest in its market niche, prior to sale.

Porsche Design Los Angeles, California President and Chief Executive Officer 1985-1990

Responsible for American company selling European designed and manufactured Sunglasses, watches, leather goods, sold under the Porsche Design label. Company owned by Porsche family of Austria. Opened first retail store in the world. Handled all sales and marketing functions, as well as legal issues in the United States.

E. R. Fredericks Company San Diego, California President and Chief Executive Officer 1983-1985

Owner of apparel distributor selling as military representatives for Haggar Slacks, Jockey Underwear, Manhattan Industries to Western United States bases. First apparel supplier to PriceClub. Golf division sold pro shops throughout United States, with twenty independent sales organizations. Opened premium division profitably. Successfully sold business in 1985.

The Broadway Department Stores Los Angeles, California Divisional Vice President, Merchandising 1970-1979, 1981-1983

Responsible for six buyers and $60 million business in forty stores. Responsibilities included sales volume, gross margin, advertising, store merchandising, product development, inventory control. Considerable overseas experience developing products worldwide. Was on initial business venture to China when trade relations opened with that country. Prior responsibilities included: Buyer, Men’s Sportswear; Buyer, Housewares; Assistant Buyer, Infant’s Furniture; Assistant to Vice President, Operations.

Miller’s Outpost Ontario, California Divisional Merchandise Manager 1979-1981
