WWI Poster Propaganda Analysis

Analyze propaganda posted in the “Gallery of World War 1 Patriotic Posters, vintage USA” on my webpage. Follow these steps:

 Go to the PHS website

 Click on staff websites

 Click on Mr. Knox’s webpage

 Scroll down the welcome page to the section on WW1

 Click on the WW1 Propaganda Posters link and scroll down to the following World War I Patriotic Poster Collections at www.crazywebsite/...by Category: http://www.crazywebsite.com/Free-Galleries-01/USA_Patriotic/pg- WW1_Posters_Vintage/World_War_1_Patriotic_Posters_USA_Military_Recruiting_America-1_jpg.htm 1. Once at the site explore the options and types of posters. Choose three different categories of posters (i.e.: recruiting fundraising, women etc.) and analyze them through the five questions on the analysis worksheet provided. By the end of the period you should have analyzed at least 3 posters.

Be sure to identify each poster with its Author, Title and Date.

2. What is this piece of propaganda trying to get people to do or think?

3. What logical appeal is being made?

4. What emotional appeals are being made?

5. What might be the results positive and negative, of these kinds of appeals?
