Oliver J. Durand Exemplary Leadership and Service Award $2,500

Introduction: Named in honor of the first president of Cosumnes River College, the Oliver J. Durand Award is the highest distinguished student leadership and service award given at CRC and presented to one outstanding student each year. The recipient will be announced by CRC President Edward C. Bush and presented with a plaque and a $2,500 honorarium at the SLLC Choice Leadership Awards Ceremony Thursday, April 20 at 6:30PM in the Recital Hall. In addition, the recipient’s name will be engraved on a permanent plaque with the names of previous winners and displayed in the ASCRC trophy case in the Library building. If the recipient is graduating, recognition will also be given at commencement. The award is funded by the ASCRC Student Senate and CRC Foundation.

Criteria: The nominee: 1. Has completed or currently completing a minimum of two semesters (with a minimum of 24 units) at CRC and maintained an overall CRC GPA of 2.5 or above

2. Demonstrated outstanding voluntary service to the college

3. Made a contribution worthy of the Oliver J. Durand Award that demonstrated visionary and servant leadership in ensuring the needs, wants and concerns of the students are represented, for example: a) demonstrated consistent service and leadership to students and campus community;

b) demonstrated leadership in coordinating campus wide activities that involve the cooperation and collaboration of individuals across campus and in the community;

c) served on participatory governance committees and kept the Student Senate informed; represented the college at community functions;

d) established activities or events or programs that enhanced the student experience on campus.
