Trainer Agreement TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education

Trainers The trainer is an approved trainer in TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education Standardized curriculum meaning that the trainer has completed the initial training of trainers conducted by Oregon Afterschool for Kids (OregonASK) and the Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education (OCCD).

The trainer is an active trainer, meaning that once the trainer attends the TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education training of trainers, s/he will be certified to provide training in the curriculum.

OCCD will maintain the list of certified and active trainers with current contact information. OCCD will provide current contact information regarding available approved and active trainers to the childhood care and education community. OCCD will provide only contact information, and will not provide recommendations or preferences for trainers. This information may be disseminated through mailers, brochures, websites, etc.

Trainer Support The certified and active trainer is authorized to keep the TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education Trainer Manual and resources as long as they continue to provide TALE training. The trainer agrees to return the TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education trainer materials when they decide to discontinue providing this training. The trainer will receive general trainer support from OCCD (updated information, materials, curriculum revisions, certificates, etc.) as available. To maintain approved and active status, the trainer agrees to attend any mandatory trainer update sessions provided by OCCD.

Curriculum The trainer agrees to: o Present the curricula materials in accordance with the TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education presentation format, agenda, concepts, etc. as established in the Training Manual. o Use the materials only in the specified training session format.

Advertisement of the Training Trainers must use the approved session descriptions and titles when advertising TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education training sessions. The trainer will coordinate, publicize, and conduct the training sessions as needed.

Sessions The trainer agrees that:

o Each individual is a minimum of two hours in length. o Each training session participant will receive the TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education Participant Manual from the trainer. o The trainer may offer the sessions free of charge or for a fee. When a fee is charged, the trainer agrees to charge a “reasonable” amount for the training sessions.

Rosters/Certificates/Evaluations TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education certified and active trainers will receive original standardized certificates from OCCD for each training session, and the trainer agrees to provide copies of the certificates to each participant for each training session completed.

The approved and active trainers will receive an original standardized evaluation form for each TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education training session, and the trainer agrees to provide the evaluation to each participant who completes any one of the TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education training sessions. The trainer agrees to retain the completed evaluations for a minimum of 3 years following the completion of the training session.

Trainer Survey Certified trainers agree to participate in a trainer survey, conducted by OCCD, by returning the survey indicating number of sessions conducted and other information about condition of training materials, needs for replacement materials, etc.

Usage Rights The TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education Trainer Manual and other materials are to be used only by trainers certified by OCCD. The Trainer Manual is part of the TALE: Training for Afterschool Literacy Education Professional Development Program and may not be reproduced without consent of the Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education.

The Participant Manual is available to all trainers certified by OCCD and to all participants who attend the training sessions, and all individuals who are interested in afterschool language and literacy development. The participant manual may be copied for personal or educational use but may not be used for economic benefit without the consent of the Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education.

I have read this trainer agreement and agree to abide by the stated principles.

DO NOT RETURN THIS DOCUMENT WITH YOUR APPLICATION PACKET. THIS COPY IS FOR YOUR RECORDS. AT THE SESSION YOU WILL BE GIVEN A COPY OF THIS AGREEMENT TO SIGN AND RETURN TO OREGON REGISTRY TRAINER PROGRAM.
