LEBANON VA MEDICAL CENTER TO RECOGNIZE NATIONAL SAFETY MONTH AND WARN AGAINST DISTRACTED DRIVING

June has been declared by the National Safety Council (NSC) as National Safety Month. The Lebanon VA Medical Center (VAMC) will recognize National Safety Month and warn against distracted driving June 9th through 13th.

The Lebanon VAMC wants to keep all their employees safe on and off the job. By educating the Lebanon VAMC staff with prevention techniques and causes of distracted driving, we can ensure our veterans will have the best care.

The NSC wants to remind all drivers that their first responsibility is safe driving on and off duty. According to NSC, 80 percent of crashes involve some sort of driving inattention.

The most common source of distraction among drivers is their cell phone. Due to the growth in technological advances, such as texting, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and in-car computers drivers have greater distractions. The NSC advises that drivers should establish and enforce a “driver distraction-free zone” inside their vehicles.
