Upload Survey Points into TDS Ranger Data Collector
1. Computer: a. Save survey point file that you want to upload to PNEZD comma delimiter file: [In Civil 3D: PointsExportFormatPNEZD comma delimiter file Destination select where you want to save file {landowner.csv}
2. Data Collector: a. Turn on Data collector and Start Survey Pro
b. Start new job for {landowner}. Save and exit Survey Pro but Keep data collector on.
c. Connect data collector to computer with USB cable
3. Computer: a. Start Microsoft Active Sync; Microsoft ActiveSync provides support for synchronizing data between a Windows-based desktop computer and Windows Mobile devices.
b. Answer “No” (or cancel) to “Set-up Partnership”
c. Go to File”Connection Settings”check “ON” the following:
d. Open “Explore” in Active Sync.
e. Open second “Explore” on computer so you can drag & drop or copy files from computer into the data collector.
Feb 2011 f. Copy the PNEZD comma delimiter file {landowner.csv} from the computer into the Survey Pro folder in the Data Collector: [Mobile Device][My windows mobile based device][Survey Pro Jobs]
4. Data Collector: a. Start Survey Pro and open job for {landowner}.
b. FileImport
c. change [Type] to [*.csv] select {landowner.csv}
d. accept default layer or make new layer for imported points
e. Select: Delimitercomma Units US Survey feet (or meters) CoordinatesPlane
f. NextColumns will be: Name column number is [1] for “Point number” Northing column is [2] Easting column is [3] Elevation column is [4] Description column is [5]
g. Finish – points will now be uploaded into job {landowner}.
Notes: 1. If the file you are importing has a “Point 1”, you will get a message saying that “there is an existing point with the same name but different coordinates” Answer “Yes” to replace the existing point with the new one.
2. If you have a Total Station Survey that you are importing, you can Copy the {landowner.job} and the {landowner.raw} files along with the PNEZD comma delimiter file {landowner.txt} file (Step 3.f.) from the computer into the Data Collector: [My windows mobile based device][Survey Pro Jobs]
If you do this you can eliminate Step 2.b. and Step 4.b. – g. Start Survey Pro OPEN or BROWSE to the {landowner.job} file. The job opens, and all your points are uploaded.
