Fr Joe's Message Expectations Is it true that our expectations affect our happiness in life? If we rise in the morning with the expectation that the day will yield nothing beautiful, our expectations will probably be fulfilled. The small joys that are a part of most of our days will pass by without our having recognized them. Positive mindsets orient us the possibility of positive experiences in our lives, so that we become more conscious of our ability to notice them, and even to create them. Negative mindsets accomplish the same result, but in reverse. Our expectations usually carry their own fulfillment in their wake. They are powerful factors in determining what our lives will be like. Many of our expectations about life have become unconscious through long force of habit; but with a little conscious reflection, we can often bring them up to the surface of our minds where they can be examined. If we like what we find, then we can give thanks to God. If we are unhappy with our findings, our increased consciousness will give us the power to change. Let us pray: “Lord, ultimately you want me to find joy in my life and I believe that. May my expectations open my mind to become more conscious of the joys that I often miss? Amen”. Fr Joe or Fr Truc would invite the birthday person, at the beginning of Mass, to light a candle, so we, as a congregation, can pray for them and wish them well, on their birthday. As such, we have a 'Big Birthday Book', at the back of the church. If you would like to put your details, a family member or friend, who are celebrating a 'big birthday' into the book, Fr Joe or Fr Truc, will then look at the beginning of each weekend Mass, to check for birthdays. I hope you will embrace this new initiative, as we feel it is important to celebrate together, as a Parish community.

19. Thank You: I just wanted to say thank you to Father Joseph and Father Truc and our wonderful parish for their continued support with Vincent's Project for the Homeless. This year we made 1,720 bags which were distributed to 20 different charities. This would not have been possible with everyone's kindness and support, whether it was a donation of money, items or time. A big thank you also to all the schools in our Parish, Whitford Catholic PS, Padbury Catholic PS and Sacred Heart College as well as Mercyville Aged Care. They were all involved in packing the items in some way. Thanks again. Vincent and family.
