COMMON MINIMUM PROGRAMME

The Common Minimum Programme in KV INS Rajali Arakkonam is being followed keeping the norms set up by the KVS in teaching learning process in primary classes. The process of teaching and learning is activity based. It is child centered and child oriented where individual attention is given to each child. Late bloomers are given extra care and individual care is being given by the concerned teachers.

The CMP has given a sense of direction to all the primary teachers as well as the school administration. It is only after the implementation of CMP that the school environment has become more vigorous to learning. The teachers are working hard to create a child friendly atmosphere in the school. The children are encouraged in each and every field and are given more exposure to participate in co-curricular activities, cluster level CCA and Sports activities,etc. which in turn build confidence in them. Even late bloomers are given chance to take part in morning assembly programme. The film shows , power point presentations, dramatizations, role plays, etc. are making the teaching learning process very interesting and motivating for the children that they come forward with their own creative ideas. The school administration took the initiative of buying CBT and other interesting story books based on values for the primary classes.

It can be said that the implementation of CMP has brought about positive changes in the school atmosphere and the children will reap the fruits for a long time to come to become a resourceful future citizen of this nation.

In a nutshell, all the efforts are being taken by the school administration as well as the enthusiastic team of primary teachers of KV Arakkonam to improve and strengthen the quality of primary education in the primary. ACTIVITIES UNDER CMP-AT A GLANCE

1.ACTIVITY CUM TEACHING LEARNING RESOURCE ROOM

There is a separate activity room for teaching learning which is being utilized by the teachers for conducting various group activities, dramatization , role play, group projects,etc. The room is fully equipped with resourceful thing that the teachers need for conducting various activities . Maths Kit from Ramanujam institute was procured. The children are encouraged to display their creative work in the activity room as well as in the classroom display board.

2. FILM SHOW CUM PPT PRESENTATION ACTIVITY ROOM

This room is fully equipped with LCD Projector,OHP , Computer , Printer, 29” TV set , DVDs from Children’s Film Society , large number of Educational CDs , ppts prepared by the teachers,etc.

3. TLM GENERATED / PROCURED

A lot of Teaching Learning Material is being procured by the teachers. A sum of 2000 is being spent every month for the same. The teachers and the children’s contribution in utilizing the material for decorating the classroom display boards with creative work is commendable indeed.

4. CLASS LIBRARY

The classroom library cupboard is fully equipped with CBT and other interesting storybooks with colourful pictures. Also each class is maintaining hanging library with monthly children’s magazines like magic pot, tell me why , champak( bilingual),etc. The children are showing a lot of interest in reading the books.

5. NEWSLETTER / PALLAV / RAINBOW PATRIKA

With teachers motivation and encouragement ,primary children contributed their creative work in the form of articles and poems ( bilingual), drawings, jokes,etc. for the newsletter, pallav and rainbow patrika. Some of the children’s work were published in the cluster level as well as regional level patrikas. 6. THINKQUEST

Students of class III to V log into the thinkquest and enrich the content area. Some students are doing wonders in the thinkquest pages.

7. CCA

The CCA schedule was prepared and activities were conducted. Also the students took part in various cluster level CCA competitions and brought laurels to the school in group song , quiz, drawing, English debate,etc.

8. SPORTS

Primary students took active part in school annual sports day by displaying colorful drill. Also they participated in the cluster level sports meet and brought laurels to the Vidyalaya by getting gold, silver and the bronze medals in various events.

9. GRANDPARENTS DAY

The grandparents day was celebrated on 19.10.2011. The grandparents turned up in large numbers to attend the function. They were greeted with flowers. They enjoyed the cultural programme presented by the children. A few of them came on the dias to express their feelings and gratitude. The day ended with lots of fun, games and eateries.

10. MORNING ASSEMBLY

Class wise morning assembly is being presented by the students right from class I . Maximum participation from each class is being encouraged.

11. CELEBRATION OF FESTIVALS

The students of primary celebrated regional and other festivals on grand scale like Onam, Diwali,Christmas, Ramzan, Pongal,etc. 12. STAR BADGE

To encourage the students a novel idea of “ Best Turn Out “ Star Badge is introduced by the principal, Shri. T.Ramaiah .Every fortnight a star badge is awarded to a girl and a boy from each class on the basis of their overall performance including neat uniform.

13. COMMUNITY LUNCH

To develop and promote an attitude of “ sharing and caring” community lunch is being organized several times by the class teachers of all the classes.

14. EXCURSION

An excursion to Vandalur Zoo, Chennai was organized for the students of classes III to V. Classes I and II were taken to Picnic Plaza , post office, bank, shopping complex,etc inside the campus. The students enjoyed the trip as it was an informative and fun filled one.

15. EFFECTIVE MONITORING

Regular observation of the classroom teaching is being done by the Principal and the Headmistress and the feedback and suggestions is given .

16. PTA MEETING

PTI Meetings is being conducted monthly basis for classes I and II and term wise for classes III to V. The answer scripts and the progress card is shown to the parents.Action plan on the basis of the performance of children is used to be prepared under reference to the suggestions of the parent.

17. STUDENTS’ PERSONAL PROFILE

Students’ personal profiles were prepared for all the primary classes and the performance cum activity sheets is kept in the file. 18. HEALTH CHECK UP

Health check up of all the students was carried out for the session 2011 – 12 and follow up was informed to the parents.

19. BAL DIWAS CELEBRATIONS

Bal Diwas was celebrated on 14.11.2011. Fancy Dress and other cultural items were organized .

20. NEWSPAPER READING

Newspaper stand has been kept in primary block. Daily newspapers (bilingual) are being displayed. Students go through the papers and are improving their knowledge as well as reading habit.

21.
