Open Spaces Manager
Salary package: £28,485 – £30,785
37 hours per week Permanent
We are looking for an experienced open spaces manager to look after Gloucester’s 519Ha of parks and open spaces, covering over 150 individual areas.
The post holder will actively engage with Amey our Streetcare service provider as well as other stakeholders and the community to help manage open space for amenity, landscape and habitat value.
Gloucester is a leader in the ‘Asset Based Community Development’ (ABCD) model of service provision, as such the post holder will be expected to work with the community and stakeholders to help deliver vibrant and vital green spaces. This will include maintaining our existing three Green Flag awarded sites and working towards a fourth.
It is a challenging but exciting time to be working in Gloucester with the grounds maintenance contract coming up for renewal in 4 years time and £2.8 million of public money to be spent on habitat and flood management in our open spaces over the next 3 years. There is also a substantial amount of section 106 money allocated for sports/play areas as well as some significant private sector investment coming on stream.
The postholder will work within the City Improvement and Environment Service alongside a diverse team of professionals that includes tree officers, countryside managers, waste/recycling managers and more general city improvement officers.
The applicant should have at least 3 years experience of open space management, be familiar with local government working practices, have a qualification in a land based discipline and an understanding of the Green Flag process.
Applications to be received by 13.00 on the 1st December.
Interviews will be 7th December.
