Role: Investment Risk analyst Background to the Role

Mercer Global Investments Europe (MGIE) is the European arm of Mercer’s Delegated Solutions (DS) business which manages in excess of US$150bn of client assets globally. The European DS business was established in 2006 and currently manages assets in excess of $60bn. Investment is via Mercer’s Irish domiciled fund range, which consists of 60+ Irish domiciled sub funds across 4 umbrella structures.

MGIE has experienced significant growth over the last 24 months and with a strong pipeline of activity, this looks set to continue for the foreseeable future. This growth has involved a huge level of new client on- boarding and has seen the business further enhance its product and service offering and positioning in the market.

With this there have been highly successful project initiatives over the last 12 months that have bolstered Mercers business, making it more scalable and dynamic. Accompanying this growth, there have been a number of newly created roles and internal promotions which illustrate the career progression potential within the Business.

As a direct result of this growth, there is now an opportunity for to join the Mercer’s dynamic Delegated Solutions’ team. The Opportunity

The Investment Risk team is heavily involved in all investment aspects of the Delegated Solutions fund range. They work closely with a number of teams within Delegated Solutions, including but not limited to the Portfolio Managers, Investment Solutions and Operations.

The team also liaise directly with a number of external investment managers on matters relating to the investment strategy within our fund structures.

Core Responsibilities:

 Produce investment risk analysis for dissemination and discussion within the Investment team

 Data management and 3rd party service provider management

 Liaise with Portfolio managers on portfolio construction matters.

 Liaise with large client on risk related queries.

 Manage data analytics delivered by the Investment Risk team.

 Liaise with our risk system provider (MSCI BarraOne) to improve modelling of instruments held.

 Suggest process improvements where necessary. The Individual

Experience:

 The ideal candidate will have 3+ years’ experience in an investment management/Investment risk role.

 Have a strong understanding of risk analytics on single and multi asset class portfolios  Have experience of large scale Project implementation with multiple stake holders across multiple jurisdictions.

 Manage 3rd party data providers

 Experience with MSCI BarraOne is desirable but not essential.

Skills:

 Very strong attention to detail is essential.

 Comfortable working within tight deadlines.

 A self-starter.

 High quality project management, analytical and communication skills.

 Strong IT skills

Qualifications:

 A strong undergraduate degree

 Further qualifications such as CFA, CAIA, Actuarial qualifications or a relevant Masters degree is highly desirable.
