Urban Discovery Ministries GLOBE Missions Trip At the Buff Bay Baptist Church GLOBE Center in Jamaica August 8-15, 2017

Purposes: . To provide a unified witness for Jesus Christ in Jamaica . To study His Great Commission and offer ourselves for its fulfillment worldwide . To advance the GLOBE Vanguard Student Movement to mobilize people of African descent for missions, including Jamaicans, as leaders of a racially diverse and united missions force. . To assist in Buff Bay Baptist Church’ Summer Camp Outreach . Begin Vanguard discipleship

Vision: Urban Discovery Ministries will recruit and train a missions team to serve with the Buff Bay Baptist Church in Jamaica. The team will stay overnight to serve at a summer teen/young adult camp and return to the GLOBE Center for a day of community outreach. The camp will be held in a college with dorm housing. The team will enjoy Jamaican meals. Team members will serve as counselors and recreation staff to support the camp program that Buff Bay Baptist Church will provide. Team members will lead devotions and provide evangelism and discipleship support at the camp.

Requirements for Missions Team Members: 1. Faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. 2. Attend three on-line training sessions, TBA. 3. Memorize and be able to present John 3:16 Diagram Part 1 and 2 on YouTube. 4. Write out and memorize a testimony of how the team member put his/her faith in Christ. 5. Be willing to share the diagram and testimony in Jamaica. 6. Obtain a passport immediately and give Kim Fariss two copies. 7. Send out letters requesting financial support and raise a set amount. 8. Recruit twenty prayer partners who will commit to pray every day during the trip. 9. Bring spending money for food during travel.

Cost: The cost of the trip, excluding spending money, will be $1000 per participant (may change with airfare). All team members will be responsible for raising support, since trusting the Lord to provide is often the first step in missions work. Donations are tax deductible and may be made to Urban Discovery Ministries. Any funds raised by team members above the individual cost of the trip will be allocated to other team members who need support. The cost includes airfare, housing, travel to and from the airport, meals at the GLOBE Center, transportation during the week, and missions insurance. Send to: UDM, P.O. Box 6381, Norfolk, VA 23508. Some Basic Details:  All participants must rely on their own health insurance. Missions medical evacuation/and secondary health insurance included in cost.  Read Vanguards of a Missionary Uprising’s Preface and first two chapters.  Bring Passport to the Airport! Give Kim Fariss two photocopies of passport in advance.  Bring basketball/soccer clothes and needed braces.  Bring money for meals during travel and to buy souvenirs and coffee  Bring summer casual and church clothes for 85-95 degree weather; women wear skirts or dresses at the church meetings; men wear ties if they preach.  Bring swim suits/trunks/towels for beach  Bring high concentrate DEET mosquito repellent and wear at all times.  Bring sunscreen and hats.  Bring surf shoes to protect your feet when swimming.  Leave valuable jewelry at home.  Linens will be provided, bring extra towels.  Bring individually prepackaged laundry detergent.  Jamaica time will be one hour later than US – no daylight savings time there.
