SDRME 2013 Summer Business Meeting Portland, Oregon: July 21 Minutes recorded by Jorie Colbert-Getz, Secretary

1) Welcome New Executive Members Carol Capello welcomed Kim Hoffman and Jorie Colbert-Getz to their new roles as President-Elect and Secretary, respectively. She also congratulated Allison Ownby for being formally elected Treasurer after assuming the interim position last year.

2) Treasurer’s Report (Allison Ownby): There is currently a total of $34,822 in the SDRME account – checking ($22,389) and savings ($18,652). This amount, however, does not yet reflect the 2013 summer meeting expenses. IRS paperwork has been completed and is up-to-date for the organization.

3) Committee Reports

International Committee: Marcel D’Eon, Chair We currently have 17 International Members (two new this year as indicated by *) from 13 countries on 6 continents: Argentina Australia Denmark (2) Grand Cayman India (2*) Iraq* Mexico Nepal Netherlands Singapore Switzerland United Kingdom (3) Zambia

Nominations Committee: Summers Kalishman, Chair Members of the SDRME Nominations Committee, in conjunction with the SDMRE Executive Committee, identified nominees for three positions on the SDRME Executive Committee: President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Three individuals were elected to serve in these positions in the Spring 2013 SDRME election: Kimberly Hoffman, PhD, President-Elect, University of Missouri School of Medicine; Jorie Colbert-Getz, PhD, Secretary, University of Utah School of Medicine; and Allison Ownby, PhD, Treasurer, University of Texas School of Medicine, Houston. Congratulations and thank you to the newly elected SDRME members who are joining the Executive Committee for the coming three years.

Communications Committee: Jorie Colbert-Getz, Chair Since the Fall 2012 meeting, 7 job postings have been placed on the SDRME website. Position announcements remain on the website for 6 months. Our listserv will be up for renewal in October, which costs approximately $50.00. Based on prior communication reports, it appears that our domain name (SDRME.ORG) will be up for renewal with Network Solutions sometime around 2014/2015. The website has been automatically erasing the SDRME officers and committee members by July 1 each year. Since the web master is at UCLA, Sebastian Uijtdehaage will look into this further.

Membership Committee: Bill Burton, Chair Six transfers have been reviewed and approved. Other transfers are pending, and one was determined ineligible. Four new applications have been reviewed and approved. Other new applications are pending. Five transfers from regular to emeritus status have been reviewed and approved.

Invited Reviews: Submitted by Dave Cook and reported by Carol Capello Dave plans to send out a request for new applications by the end of July. Details will be posted via email and the SDRME web site. Somnath Mookherjee’s review on “Physical Examination Teaching,” presented at the 2012 summer meeting, was recently published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine.

4) CFAS (formerly CAS): Boyd Richards Boyd is now the senior member of CFAS and Katie Huggett has been approved by the EC as the junior member. Boyd thanked SDRME members for their insightful feedback on his CAS session at the 2012 Summer Meeting that led to his being invited as a keynote speaker at the 2014 NEGEA meeting. Boyd has continued to compile the CFAS summaries (previously compiled by LuAnn Wilkerson), but he requested that members email him if they wanted to continue to receive these summaries.

5) Emeritus Booklet Annie Daniel reported that she and Carol are continuing to update the Emeritus Booklet presented at the 2012 Anniversary summer meeting and asked members to provide any information on current Emeritus members and welcomed any pictures.

6) Fall 2013 Meeting The SDRME fall meeting will be a combined Business Meeting and Reception on Tuesday, November 5, from 6pm-8pm, in the Marriott Grand I, Philadelphia An invited reviewer will be presenting using handouts, for, given the cost, no AV equipment will be available. Unfortunately, the AAMC has scheduled a number of GEA workshops during that afternoon, including one facilitated by a few of our SDRME members, including our Past-President.
