2006 KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION REGISTRATION AND HOUSING

Please find enclosed an informational brochure for the 2006 Kiwanis International Convention in Montréal, Québec, Canada. The brochure includes a registration form to be submitted to Kiwanis International and a separate housing form to be submitted to The Meeting Connection.

The annual convention mailing to club secretaries, district officers, lieutenant governors, and past district governors will be mailed by December 23. Convention information, including both forms, also will appear in the February 2006 issue of KIWANIS magazine and on the Kiwanis convention Web site (as of Dec. 23) at www.kiwanis.org/convention/.

Note: All Dateline recipients in Regions III (Europe), IV (Asia-Pacific), and V (Latin America), please refer to the February 2006 issue of KIWANIS magazine for Montréal convention materials in appropriate languages. Materials also will be available from your respective regional service center.

Please be advised that the International Office will be closed from Monday, December 26, through Friday, December 30. We shall return to a normal work schedule on Monday, January 2, 2006.

AUTO TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT

Effective January 1, 2006, the mileage reimbursement when traveling on behalf of Kiwanis will be US$0.445 (44.5 cents) per mile. The rate is equal to that allowed by the Internal Revenue Service standard mileage rate for 2006. Procedure 179.1 C. states the auto travel reimbursement is not to exceed the equivalent cost of the lowest round-trip airfare, plus transportation to and from the airport.

STAFF NEWS

At the December 7, 2005, Employee Meeting, ESTHER BARKER (Finance) and KEN LEWIS (Office Services) were recognized as Employees of the Quarter for the months of September, October, and November.

During the holiday party for employees on December 9, LAURIE WELCH (Leadership Development and Education) and FABIENNE APRIL (Regional Services) were honored as Employees of the Year for 2005 and were presented with the Tammy O’Callaghan Memorial Award. Congratulations to Laurie and Fabienne for their outstanding contributions to Kiwanis International and to our volunteers.
