PATH’s Community Resource Seminars – 2018. We want to answer your questions about our local system of social services -- register today for our ½ day (4 hour) training! The cost is $50/individual, plus $45 (optional and special seminar rate) for the McLean/DeWitt/Livingston County PATH Directory or $40 for the McLean County only Directory. Both go hand-in-hand with the seminar content.

Our Seminar dates for 2018 are Thursday Feb 8, May 10, Sept 13, and Nov 8, from 8:30am-12:30pm.

HOW FRESH IS YOUR PATH DIRECTORY? If you currently own a PATH directory, check your “freshness date” at the bottom right-hand corner. Is it over a year old? Make sure you have the very latest information to make the right referrals for your clients. Resources are constantly changing. If you do not own PATH’s Directory and you are working with people in nearly any capacity, you need one! Cost is $50 per directory for McLean County only information, $55 per directory for McLean, DeWitt & Livingston Counties combined. Additional charges apply if shipping is required. CIVA Meeting The next CIVA meeting is scheduled for 8:30am on Friday, November 10 at the ISU Alumni Center at 1101 N. Main Street in Normal.

For this meeting, the Agency Spotlight will be on Midwest Food Bank and the topic will focus on Utilizing Interns. In addition, the topic of interns will be in a round table discussion on finding, interviewing, and utilizing interns as well as determining what the organization wants and academic requirements.

There will be bagels, coffee, and orange juice provided! We hope to see you there.

Bloomington Library Wednesday, November 15 Teen DIY Craft: Holiday Wreaths  6:30pm; Community Room  For teens Those entering grades 6-12 are invited to take part in our Teen DIY Craft programs. There’s no need to register, and all supplies will be provided. On November 15, the teens will start decorating for the holidays as they create holiday wreaths at 6:30pm in the Bloomington Public Library Community Room.

Thursday, November 16 Teen Advisory Board (TAB)  4:30-6pm; teenZone  For teens If you’re a teen in grades 6-12 and you want to share your opinions about the teen books purchased and the teen programs offered by Bloomington Public Library, this is the place you should be. TAB will meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 4:30-6pm in teenZone. The group will play games and discuss Bloomington Public Library’s teen services. Small Business Series with SCORE: Getting Started with WordPress  6:30pm; Community Room Small business owners and others in the business world will learn valuable tips and practices in this series of programs lead by SCORE. Attend any or all sessions offered. On November 16, we’ll discuss getting started with WordPress. Meet at 6:30pm in the Bloomington Public Library Community Room.

Saturday, November 18 Global Tales  3rd Saturday of the month  11am; Children’s Department  Children of all ages Join IWU international students at 11am in the Bloomington Public Library Children’s Department as they read stories about their native countries and give cultural lessons about our world. A different country will be featured at each session. There will also be fun activities such as songs, dances, and games! Thursday, November 30 Images of Lincoln's Eighth Judicial Circuit  7pm; Community Room Local author and Lincoln scholar, Guy Fraker, will give a presentation and show a variety of images of people and places from his new book Looking for Lincoln in Illinois: A Guide to Lincoln's Eighth Judicial Circuit. Copies of his book will be available for purchase after the program. Meet at 7pm in the Bloomington Public Library Community Room.

 Orientations are held @ LIFE CIL or can be scheduled at your organization (presentations can be customized to fit your needs).  Orientations give an overview of public transportation, how to plan a trip & ride, who is eligible for Connect Mobility & how to apply. One-to-one Bus Training is also available!

Imagine Eastview’s Holiday Assistance Program and the 2017 Distribution Day is Saturday, December 2nd. Walk in shopping begins at 2:00 pm but guests may arrive between 10:00 am and 1:30 pm on December 2nd. We ask that you bring a photo ID and a piece of mail from your current address. Only the registered guest will be able to shop at the appointment time. If you are registered and have an appointment time that you’re unable to attend, please call 309-451-5008 and leave your name and appointment time as well as a contact phone number on the voicemail indicating you want Personal Shopping. We will have an IMAGINE team member shop for you using our Personal Shopping option at your appointed time. All orders are filled based on availability of items. Your items will be available for pick up on Monday, December 4th between 6:00 & 8:00 pm at the Eastview Food Pantry. When items are picked up a photo ID and piece of mail will be required. There is no phone-in registration available.

*Eastview Food Pantry will be closed for Thanksgiving November 21st – 23rd.

Grabill-Homan Community Peace Prize The Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies Program at Illinois State University is accepting nominations and self-nominations for the Grabill-Homan Community Peace Prize, which is named for Joseph L. Grabill and Gerlof D. Homan, Illinois State University emeritus professors of history who helped establish the interdisciplinary Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies Program.

The Grabill-Homan Community Peace Prize recognizes individual achievements in peacemaking, leadership, community service, and activism. The award recipient will be presented with a plaque in the spring of 2018.

To be eligible, a nominee must be a resident of Bloomington or Normal and be at least 21 years of age. Eligible individuals must have a record of participation in peacemaking activities in the community. Examples of such activities include activities in the areas of civil rights, cross-cultural understanding, economic and social justice, environmental protection, as well as activities that help advance peace and human dignity. Nominees should have a record of peaceful conflict resolution, leadership, integrity, and compassion and demonstrate respect for all individuals. Nominees may demonstrate these personal attributes and a record of peacemaking activities in any area, including the workplace, family life, or volunteer work.

The following materials are required for all nominations or self-nominations for the Grabill-Homan Community Peace Prize: -Nominees should provide a brief resume that highlights their relevant peacemaking activities. -Two letters of support are required. These letters should be from individuals who can speak to the impact of the nominee’s activities and initiatives on the community. -A brief 300-500 word description of a community need that should receive public attention is also required. This description should be written by the nominee, and the community need should have a peace and conflict resolution dimension.

Normal First United Methodist Church is pleased to host #GivingTuesdayBloNo on Tuesday, November 28th. Entering its sixth year, Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely-recognized shopping events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

Representatives from local, nonprofit, or 501(c)3 organizations are invited to attend and present displays with information about your services. Tables will be provided; power is available upon request. To enroll as a participating organization, please sign up using this short form no later than 11/15. Due to space limitations, enrollment for this event will be capped at 25; fourteen local organizations are currently registered to participate. As the lead person in the management of a new pilot project, to include the development of a provider network and negotiation of contracts for the provision of services to older persons. The position is responsible for the development of policies and procedures, supervision of staff, training, and marketing. Minimum Bachelor Degree in a Human Services field and prefers 3 years of experience in grants management, use Microsoft applications and web based programs.

Account (Project) Tech The position is responsible for monitoring of a dashboard for the authorization of service costs, recommending funding-line transfers within the project, disbursement of funds to providers of services and payment verification uploads to a web based system. This position requires a person who is detail oriented with bookkeeping, accounts receivable and accounts payable is required. Minimum of 2 years in accounting with preferred associate degree in accounting or business or equivalent experience.
