Hello, "Cambodia Veterans" 4th Infantry Division
I hope this message finds each of in good health and enjoying life to the fullest. I’m writing to let you know that I am making good progress rebuilding my lost address book from a major PC crash a week back. Thanks to an old 2003 address book found on one of my old PCs and printed e-mail messages from work on some of my books manuscripts, I am well on the way of re-entering some 1,000 names. Many no doubt are invalid now, therefore, I would sure appreciate you forwarding this message on to your unit teammates on your list who participated in the Cambodian Operation in May 1970; and ask them to contact me, so I can obtain their names and e-mail address--for updates about the reunion and should I do a second printing of Twelve Days In May. Check who all I have included on this message to see who's address I have removed.
Troopers, as some of you already know, a special reunion will be held next June 8-12, 2014 in Tunica, MS to reunite and honor those of you who participated in Operation Binh Tay in May 1970--The Cambodia Incursion. Full details can be found at www.currahee.org. Check out the “Attendees List” to see who have signed up thus far. I apologize for this long message, but we have members (yours and mine), who do not use the computer much, or know how to get around on website. I make this as simply as I can for those troopers.
Another purposes for this message is (once again for some) to provide some background information in reference to the 2014 special reunion. In 2010, I organized a reunion in Reno, NV to honor the Cambodia Operation Veterans (my 3-506th, 4th ID, TF units) and it was most successful, fun, rewarding, and created some special bonds among us combat veterans. Feedback from numerous members--those who attended and some who didn't, or were found afterwards--hoped we organized another one. You can find the "After Action Report" of that reunion with lots of pictures, etc. on the website: www.currahee.org.
Following our (3-506th) 16th Annual Reunion in Reno, NV in 2012, my wife, Donna, and I, after over three decades devoted to researching and documenting our unit history, finding and helping former members, writing books, and organizing reunions, etc., announced to our members that it would be our final reunion organizing, so that we could devote more time to family and home tasks. After sitting out for a year, I realized that I failed to accomplish a major goal, which began all my work with our airborne unit. It has been my desire for over three decades to reunite the members of my original 3-506th group (1967/68)--known to us as "boat troopers"; and the original "TF 3-506th units (aviation, artillery, engineers, medical) members, which supported us at Phan Rang and Phan Thiet.
At our previous 17 annual reunions (including 2013), there have been a scattering of these units members in attendance from the two groups, but there has never been a determined effort on my part to aggressively find and reunite the two groups as being conducted now. Thus, after sitting out for a year and with more former members (from all years) surfacing and making contact with me, I want to accomplish my original goal. Therefore, I decided to organize one last special reunion to be held next summer in Tunica, MS. This also would be a golden opportunity to bring our Cambodia Veterans (3- 506th, 4th ID units, TF units) together again. If you stop and consider, all of the three previous mentioned groups is one large family. My 3-506th (TF 3-506th) was attached to the 4th ID prior to, during, and afterward Cambodia, as well as, some of the same TF units of the 4th ID (Aviation, Engineers, Medical, etc.). A combined reunion is best of all! I will guarantee you that if you will allow yourself to attend, you will come away convinced that it was the best you have ever participated in. Now my next purpose for this "lengthy" message is to encourage and help you decide by providing you with key information. As I mentioned above, complete details on the website: www.currahee.org, but I know how some of you are scared to death of using the internet, or getting around on website. I hope the following instructions/info. helps. Contact me anytime via e-mail, snail mail, or phone, if you have questions, or need help with something. I recommend that you print off this message and post it close to your PC to help remind you, if you are considering attending. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT ATTEND.

Finally, I began planning for next year’s event (year and a half out), in order to try and reach as many of our former members as possible in this, my last reunion effort. Over the past four decades, I/we have located over 1,000 former members, but over the years have lost contact with quite a few. An aggressive effort is now underway to try and reconnect with them, as well as, located members not yet found. Time waits for no one and considering our age and health, I needed to move on this mission. We are losing our Vietnam Vets at an alarming rate. I have commenced an aggressive PR campaign, i.e, contacting all 101st Abn. Assoc. Chapters to post our notice in their newsletters and pass on to members; posting notices on various TF 3-506th and other Assoc. websites; and have begun to mail out several hundred postcards to reach members, contact editors of various veterans magazines to publish our event notice, etc. Please consider attending. I would appreciate you passing our notice about the upcoming reunion on to others. To cap all this "opining" one last time:
