HISTORIC KENWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION General Monthly Meeting Wednesday, November 1, 2017

The general monthly meeting of the Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association was held Wednesday, November 1, at 7:00 PM in the Metro Wellness Center, 3251 3rd Ave N, St Petersburg, FL 33713.

I. Call to Order: HKNA President Brenda Gordon called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM with thanks to Simply Delicious! for the delicious food!

II. Welcome Residents and New Businesses: Approximately 76 residents in attendance and several new members. Brenda introduced the representative for SPCA who shared information about an informational program for senior pets.

III. Officer Christian reported a low level of criminal activity in the neighborhood.

IV. GUEST SPEAKER: Laura Duvekot, Historic Preservationist, City of St. Petersburg explained St Petersburg’s Design Guidelines for Historic Properties, a reference tool for owners to use when considering updates and renovations of their historical properties. She presented an overview of the City’s architectural history and styles throughout the neighborhoods. She emphasized the many choices available to home owners.

V. SEMINOLE PARK LOCAL HISTORIC DISTRICT: Public hearing Thursday, 11/20/17 6pm City Hall: Brenda Gordon announced the hearing to finalize the local historical designation of the area around Seminole Park.

VI. BUNGALOWFEST: Nancy Dinucci encouraged residents to attend: Sat., November 4, 2017.

VII. 2017 BOARD ELECTIONS: Carolyn Gambuti reported the number and names of residents volunteering to run for 2018 Board positions: President-Charla Cribb, VP-Nicole Carlisle & Sue Heyen, Secretary-MJ Baker, Treasurer-Linda Kellett, Directors-Brenda Gordon (past President), Sara-Ellen Burnett, Michelene Everett, Traci Boyle, Bill Heyen, Shannon Love, Jim Woodfield, Deborah Von Cannon.

VIII. PUBLIC ART/DINING FOR ART: Laura McGrath reported the success of the first Dining for Art event and the monies raised to fund the first Historic Kenwood Public Art Project. The event

Wednesday, November 1, 2017 General Monthly Meeting Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association Page 1 of 3 raised over $2300, which exceeded the cost of the first project, bench painting in Seminole Park. The remainder of the proceeds will be applied to the next HK Public Art Project.

IX. 2017 BYLAWS COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS: Brenda Gordon presented the changes made to the Bylaws. Hard copies are available along with a summary of changes. A vote by the membership to accept the revisions will be taken in January.

X. PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENTS:

a. Artist Enclave: MJ Baker encouraged the membership to read the HKNA newsletter article on Becky Jamin, a new member of the enclave. Many thanks to Jim Woodfield for presenting an encouraging and useful workshop about setting up a gallery show. AEHK emerging artists will present their work on Saturday, December 9 from 11 AM - 9PM at Woodfield Fine Art Gallery, 2253 Central Ave. The Tuesday, November 14, meeting (1950 Burlington Ave N) will include a workshop presented by artists Yael Kelley and Jan Richardson about how to price art. b. HK Partnership: Farhan Malik reported the clean-up of the BungalowFest trolley route. The Partnership crew will complete the project begun earlier on 7th Ave N. on November 18 at 8 AM. Please send any donations with HK Partnership on the notation line to HKNA, PO box 15134, St Pete, 33713. c. Kenwood Kidz: Charla Cribb announced enormous success with the October event and reminds the community to join Kenwood Kidz for the November 10, 2017 event, hosted by award-winning director and performing artist Colleen McGrath Lilley. She will present a children’s Sing Along and Storytime. She announced on Saturday, December 9, 2017 Kenwood Kidz will meet at 7pm for children and parents Christmas caroling.

XI. HALLOWEEN CONTEST WINNERS: Frank Clemente announced the winners in each category, who received a plaque.

XII. PORCH PARTY: Brenda announced the November porch party, hosted by Robert Smith, is Friday, November 10 at 7PM, 3010 4th Avenue N. Please bring a dish to pass and a beverage.

XIII. 31st Street Traffic Plan Update: Handouts available describing the traffic calming methods(Attachment A).

XIV. DECEMBER ANNUAL MEETING And Announcements: ELECTIONS, HOLIDAY PARTY (potluck with beverages & ham/turkey provided by HKNA), AWARDS; Green-eyed signs are available; Donate extra Halloween candy to the troops through Michelene Everett, 2250 6th Ave N.
