Expectation Lesson Plan

Expectation 1: Follow the rules/Be compliant

Definition Students, parents, and staff will insure a positive learning environment by following the rules of the school and meeting/exceeding daily expectations.

Rationale for having the Expectation To create a safe and positive learning environment.

All teachers are expected to use the Code of Conduct Resources found under BEEP to teach these lessons. Teachers will utilize both the scavenger hunt and the Jeopardy Game in their classrooms, as provided by Broward County. Specific steps of Lesson Plan (3-5 sentences. Include lesson format, activities, and details to replicate):

Teachers will use these lesson plans to ensure that students understand the rules and expectations of the school. Students will be engaged through these interactive lessons.

Code Book Scavenger Hung August 29, Period 2, NEW and ABSENT STUDENTS Who is responsible for teaching the Lesson Plan? The initial teaching will be conducted by all classroom teachers. Students who are new to the school or absent, during the initial teaching will be taught by the guidance counselors the second week of school. Expectations Lesson Plan

Expectation 2: Be respectful to peers and adults

Definition Treating others with dignity and honoring the rules of our school, family, and community

Resources used to teach this Lesson Plan (specific websites, curriculum, programs, etc.): The CHAMPS Proactive & Positive Approach to Classroom Management program, and character education curriculum along with Pick 6 will be utilized to teach this lesson plan. Pick 6 is a plan created where 6 students are chosen per team, who need extra guidance from administration and the administrators mentor them throughout their time here at CSMS.

Specific steps of Lesson Plan (Include lesson format, activities, and details to replicate):

Teachers will utilize lesson plan activities in structuring their classrooms to promote responsible student behavior, developing and implementing rules, and establishing effective rewards and corrective consequences.

All teachers are expected to utilize the CHAMPS program daily for classroom management strategies. Teachers have been trained and have CHAMPS resources available. Extra books are available in the media center. Trainings for new teachers will be provided through the NESS Program and New Teacher Academy. Expectation 3: Be in class on time, for the full period

Teachers will utilize the Character Ed lessons on BEEP to teach about responsibility. Additional resources can be found online for punctuality on http://character-in-action.com/punctuality-tips-and-strategies/. Specific steps of Lesson Plan (Include lesson format, activities, and details to replicate): Each quarter teachers will conduct lessons about responsibility and punctuality. Teachers can use their content area to conduct the lesson and integrate the character traits into their content, or teach the lesson on beep. It is preferable for teachers to use biographical figures as examples.
