I like Summer by Walter Dean Myers because it tells of the beautiful and not so beautiful things of summer. Myers uses good diction and sensory detail to describe the “Juices dripping/ Running and ripping”. I also enjoyed the author’s use of repetition with the word day to describe a season that is favored by all.

January

January comes with the fresh winter snow To lay on the ground a plenty With a gust and a clash And a typhoon like smash It will snow until thirty-two twenty From Montana to Sylvania And all in between, ya The cold rain last through the season With a whirl and a twirl And a pearl like hurl It leaves for the rain in treason
