O'Connor Drive Corridor Improvements Fact Sheet

The O’Connor Drive Corridor Improvements are intended to address a variety of issues.  Improve safety for residents, businesses, several nearby schools and the Round Rock Hospital.  Relieve congestion on RM 620.  Improve overall traffic operations in the area.

The O’Connor Drive Corridor Improvements consist of three projects.  O'Connor Drive Extension: from RM 620 to just north of SH 45.  Great Oaks Drive and O'Connor Drive Intersection Improvements at RM 620: on Great Oaks and O'Connor north of RM 620.  O'Connor Drive/SH 45 Interchange: at the intersection of O'Connor and SH 45.

Project Description  O’Connor Drive Extension: Design and construction of a 1.4-mile, four-lane divided urban roadway from RM 620 to SH 45, including a bridge structure spanning Lake Creek.  Great Oaks Drive and O’Connor Drive Intersection Improvements: Design and construction of intersection improvements for southbound Great Oaks and O'Connor at RM 620. The final design includes a dedicated right-turn lane, one through lane and two dedicated left-turn lanes.  O’Connor Drive/SH 45 Interchange: Design and construction of an interchange, including the O’Connor Drive overpass at SH 45, the extension of non-tolled frontage roads from McNeil Road to O'Connor Drive and entrance and exit ramps to access both SH 45 Toll and Loop 1 Toll. The proposed project will be constructed in existing SH 45 right-of-way and Williamson County’s proposed O’Connor Drive right-of- way.

Project Status  Construction of the O'Connor Drive Extension is complete. The roadway was opened to traffic from RM 620 to S. Great Oaks in fall 2012, and is scheduled to open from S. Great Oaks to SH 45 in spring 2014.

 The intersection improvements on O'Connor Drive and Great Oaks Drive at RM 620 were completed in summer 2011.

 The interchange construction at SH 45 is managed by TxDOT. Construction is anticipated to be complete in spring 2014.
