Dear Parents and Carers s15

The John Fielding Special School Ashlawn Drive 27th November 2017 Boston PE21 9PX Dear Parents and carers,

I am writing to inform you of some important staffing changes that will be happening in January 2018.

Current Head of School, Mrs Karen Smith, will be leaving her role at the end of December and moving to a project lead post within Community Inclusive Trust. She will be responsible for co-ordinating the trusts growth plans and securing bids for both additional funding and new schools. To replace her, Dr Richard Gamman will be moving across from The Garth School in Spalding. Richard is currently Head of School at The Garth and has a successful record of securing excellent outcomes for pupils and steered The Garth to an outstanding Ofsted judgement in 2015. Previously, Richard has held a senior leadership post at a special school in Cambridgeshire and was the Principle Educational Psychologist for Peterborough.

I would like to thank Karen for her hard work and support to the school during her time here and wish her well in her new role.

As you will also be aware, Assistant Head teacher, Mrs Nina Prowting, will also be leaving at Christmas to take up a Deputy Headship post at another special school. I would like to thank her for her contribution to the school and leadership of the secondary department. Her Assistant Headship post will be filled temporarily in the first instance by Mr Aaron Blood-Worth. Aaron is a senior teacher at The Garth School and will be seconded over for the Spring Term. Aaron is an experienced special needs teacher and has been over to John Fielding School on several occasions. A permanent replacement for the Assistant Head Teacher vacancy will be recruited to in the New Year.

I would also like to welcome Mrs Amanda Brooks to the school. Amanda will be taking up a teaching post in Otters Class and will also be leading the primary department of the school. Amanda is an experienced special needs teacher having taught at Willoughby School for several years. Thanks go to Vicky Spillane who has led Otters Class since September.

We will also be welcoming four new Apprentice Teaching Assistants to add to our staffing teams and support us in our work securing the very best outcomes for pupils at John Fielding.

Whilst change can sometimes be a little unnerving, I am confident and optimistic about the future and the strength and qualities that will be added by our new staff.

Should any parent or carer have any particular concerns about the changes due to take place, please feel free to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Daran Bland Executive Head Teacher
