As we close out 2016 and welcome 2017 there is one thing I can truly say, - God is faithful. As pastor of this great church, I have been so blessed to see people come to know the Lord and to grow in His grace. My heart has leaped to see people Fifth Sunday Singing taking giant steps of faith as they put all their trust in the Lord. I have cried with Sunday, January 29 @ 6 PM those who seemingly hit rock bottom, but admitted their weaknesses and got back Welcome as they come on their feet again to walk with Christ. Now not everything has been perfect. I have desiring church membership! been disappointed in those who have given up too early and too easily in their walk with the Lord, not only turning their back on the Lord, but also on their church family. But you know what? God still loves them and so do I! We are still on a journey here at Southside. We are so close to paying off our church debt. When this burden is gone, it opens up the door to many new opportunities. Be in prayer for God’s guidance in what direction we need to take. T. J. Chevalier Be in prayer as we seek guidance in partnering with a church planter (new name for 1105 S. Limestone St mission pastor) in the greater Atlanta area. This may give us an opportunity to do Gaffney SC 29340 missions year round in a setting that is not that long of a drive. Prayerfully it will Phone: 252-622-6982 give families an opportunity to work together on the mission field. Pray for me as I will be on a fact finding trip to Atlanta on January 16 with others from our Birthday: July 24 association. Let me thank all of you that were involved in gathering items for Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, Prisoner Packets, and the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes this year. Thank you for sharing from your heart. Now pray as we strive to reach our goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Also thank you to all those who made this Christmas season so special. The Flower Committee, under Marshall Goforth’s leadership, did a great job decorating the church. All of our choirs (Preschool, Children and Adult) did a fantastic job this year in not only providing great listening music, but sharing the gospel message. Thank you to our youth who assisted the Preschool and Children’s Choir productions this year. You did great! I have been suggesting to a few folks that our theme for 2017 should be “GET OUT OF THE CHURCH”! Get out of your comfort zone. Get out of the familiar walls of the church building. Get out and make a difference in a lost and hurting world, like one of our Sunday School classes that ministered to the homeless and the hungry of Gaffney on Thanksgiving Day through our local Soup Kitchen. Where is God leading you to serve this coming year?
