We Are…Minnesota Spirit Initiative The Rooter Club Board Position Description University of Minnesota TITLE: Rooter Club Officer TERM: September 2014 -April 2015

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Rooter Club is the student section at home Gopher football games at TCF Bank Stadium. The mission of The Rooter Club is to support the We Are...Minnesota Spirit Initiative in an effort to lead the University of Minnesota community in fan participation, Gopher spirit, and positive behavior at Gopher football games. The Rooter Club itself will: initiate traditions, encourage positive fan behavior, create a welcoming and exciting environment for all who attend Gopher Football events, and create a strongly unified atmosphere for University of Minnesota student fans. The Rooter Club board members will work to promote the Rooter Club itself in order to increase awareness of the group and increase the number of Gopher football student fans. The goal is to fill the stands!

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  Attend all home Gopher Football games  Attend all bi-weekly meetings of The Rooter Club board as called by the President  Conduct oneself in accordance with the Code of Conduct as listed in this constitution  Lead the student section of their chosen sport with positive role modeling, fan behavior, and cheers  Respond appropriately (in line with this constitution) to student section or event issues  Act as a liaison to event management staff  Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:  Current University of Minnesota student enrolled in at least part time (undergraduate student, 6 credits; graduate student, 3 credits)  Commitment to attending Gopher Football games two hours prior to kickoff and staying through the final seconds of the game.  Commitment to other events through the year

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Qualified applicants should be knowledgeable about football  Qualified applicants should be passionate for the Gopher Football team and the University

POSITION BENEFITS:  Free admittance and reserved seats for all home Gopher Football games  Free t-shirt  Opportunity to help with Gopher game day preparation  Establish traditions and lead the Gopher Football student section  Chance to make direct impact within Gopher Football program  Social activities and opportunities to interact with one another throughout the year

OFFICER POSITIONS AVAILABLE:  Vice President – Helps President with organization of meetings, planning Football gameday  Secretary – Takes notes at meetings, records and reads minutes  Treasurer – Helps President handle funds and help with budgeting  Rooter Club Recruiters – Recruits students to come to games and to become Rooter Club members  Rooter Club Communications Chair - Makes and distributes flyers, posters at games and around campus  Marketing Chair – Works directly with Gopher Marketing for new and exciting game day promotion ideas  Photographer – Lead photographer for the Rooter Club at home games and other events (media day, etc.) The Rooter Club Board Application E-mail completed application to [email protected]
