Minimum day schedule: On minimum days - all grades 1 through 5 dismiss at 12:20. (Includes kindergarteners after Sept. 14th)
CLASS LISTS: Class lists will be available Friday, August 15th, after 4 p.m. on the school office window. There will be school maps on the front office doors to help students locate their classroom.
SHULL PRESENTATIONS TO NEW SHULL PARENTS (kindergarten or other grades) : Cafeteria, Monday August 18th - 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Parents and Guardians are highly encouraged to attend this presentation by the principal. There will be an overview of the school academic programs, PTA, student support programs, school rules, special events and parent involvement opportunities.
KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOM ORIENTATION: 8:00 to 8:30 in kindergarten rooms on the first day of school, August 18th.
DRESS FOR SUCCESS SCHOOL UNIFORM: Let’s keep up the great use of uniform from head to toe including sweatshirts and sweaters! All students must wear clothes LOGO FREE with the following colors: navy, bright and lt. blue, hunter green, white, red, or any plaid of these colors. Pants should be blue or tan. JEANS are only allowed on Fridays except for 5TH GRADERS! They may wear jeans any day of the week as a 5th grade privilege! Our Dress for Success policy includes having logo free sweatshirts and sweaters in the school colors only. Great uniform clothes are available at many local clothing stores. There is a limited supply of school shirts in the office. An order form for new shirts will go home the first week of school.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT: Mark your calendar for Back to School Night, Thurs. August 28th! BREAKFAST AND LUNCHES
Breakfast at Shull will be $2.00 (7:30-8 a.m.) A cafeteria lunch will be $2.75 per day. Parents can prepay for lunches on EZschoolpay.com. To access the system, you must know your student’s permanent ID number (AR number). New students can get these numbers from their teachers. Kindergarten teachers will send home these codes the first month of school. You many call the office if you do not know this number. Milk is 50 cents for students bringing their lunches. Reduced price for lunch is 40 cents.
New applications for free and reduced meals are available in the office now. We highly encourage parents to look at the chart below and apply for free or reduced lunch. Many parents are not aware that their children qualify. Participation in the program is confidential. If your total household income is the same or less than the amounts on the income scale below, your child may receive meals free or at a reduced price. If your family receives food stamps, CalWORKS, Kin-Gap or food distribution program or FDPIR benefits, your child may receive free meals.
Participants from households with incomes at or below the following levels may be eligible for free or reduced- price meals or free milk. MATERIALS NEEDED We would be thrilled to accept donations to the school office or to your child’s classroom for any of the following ….any time from now until school starts!: White Plain Copy Paper Reams 8 1/2 by 11(most important), 3 hole notebook paper COLLEGE RULED, #2 pencils, red correcting pencils with erasers, colored pencil sets, Crayola half-pan 8 watercolor paints, white glue, roll-on glue, crayons 24/box – Crayola only (others are poor quality), glue sticks, pink pearl erasers, Kleenex, clean wipes, letter-size file folders. For specific information about materials needed at your child’s grade level please check our website. SHOP AND HAVE SOME FUNDS RETURNED TO SHULL! Office Depot gives back! At OFFICE DEPOT, 5% of your purchase price is given back to Shull. Just tell the cashier to credit Arma J. Shull Elementary which is located alphabetically under the A’s on the 1st page of their notebook. Shull’s ID number is 70013963 Office Depot is at 2268 Foothill Blvd. La Verne, CA (but any Office Depot will do this).
SHOP TARGET: There’s a wonderfully simple way for you to help us raise funds for our school. All you have to do is sign up your Target® Visa® or Target® Card, and a percentage of the amount of each purchase you make goes back to our school in the form of a cash donation from Target twice a year.
