FTX – Important Update

October 2016 FTX – MacAuley Mountain Conservation Area

FTX cadet drop off - Friday 21 Oct at 1730 Thompson Drill Hall. Parents are requested to stay at the drill hall until kit has been checked. Cadets must have everything on the kit list. The weather looks like it will be wet so bring extra clothing if required. Cadets MUST have their health card with them or they will not get on the bus.

FTX Cadet pick up - Sunday 23 Oct at 1600 Thompson Drill Hall

58 FTX Equipment List REQUIRED – KIT WILL BE CHECKED PRIOR TO DEPARTURE At least - 4 pairs of underwear - 4 pairs of sport socks - 4 pairs of wool socks - 3 pairs of pants (no jeans) - 3 t-shirts - 1 long sleeve shirt - 1 Warm sweater - Pajamas - Hat - Toque - Gloves (2 pair) - Jacket - 1 pair warm waterproof boots - 1 pair running shoes / hiking boots - Rain gear - Note pad and pen/pencil - Flashlight and extra batteries - All personal toiletries (Toothbrush, toothpaste, facecloth, soap, hairbrush/comb, hand towel, deodorant, etc) - Water bottle and non-glass mug - Chap Stick and Foot Powder -basic first aid kit (Band-Aids, alcohol wipes, Polysporin) - HEALTH CARD

- Sleeping bags provided

- Cell phones will be confiscated and held in safe keeping, and used for calls to parents only.

- Cameras are permitted at cadets / parents discretion. (Squadron is not liable)

- The weather may be cold and wet; cadets are encouraged to bring any additional clothing to suit the weather.

**DRESS IN LAYERS**

PROHIBITED ITEMS - Matches/lighters (matches will be provided when necessary) - Personal stereos/Discman/Walkman - Cigarettes - Any outside food - Inappropriate reading material

MEDICATION Personal medication will be kept with the cadet, however 2Lt. Parkinson must be notified of all medications and will supervise such use. This includes all prescription and non-prescription medication (including Tylenol, etc.) Cadets with asthma will be required to keep their inhaler on them at all times. Cadets with bee allergies will be required to keep their ana-kit/epi-pen on them at all times.

Sports Night – Timings are the same for Sports Nights. The location will be determined soon. Watch the web site here for updates. ------Vegetarians – Any cadet who is a vegetarian needs to see 2Lt Parkinson this week. ------

As a bonus for those Senior NCOs who attended the Senior NCO Meetings so far this training year we are please to invite them to attend the Kingston Frontenac’s hockey game on November 4 at no charge. Any of the Senior NCOs who wish to go must see Mr. Heyman after dismissal to have your name on the list. Those taking part will be among several military groups involved that night compliments of John & Heather Price and KMFRC. ------

WINTER DRESS Starting Oct 18 the squadron will parade in Winter Dress which is comprised of; All cadets up to and including FCpl – Jacket, sweater, trousers, boots, wedge Sgt and above will replace the t-shirt with the shirt and tie

416 Wing Charter Night – At least 8 cadets are required to serve dinner to the veterns and members of our sponsor 416 Wing on November 12 from 1800 – 2100 hrs This will not only allow you to meet a lot of great people but it gains you points in 3 areas. 1- Points for Squadron Scholarship 2- Points for Level Training 3- Volunteer hours for school. DIRECTIONS TO 416 WING

Take Front Road to the Airport. When you turn onto the Airport road you will see a big yellow airplane on a pedestal. The 416 wing clubrooms are beside it. ------

HALLOWEEN DANCE

The Halloween Dance has been changed to Friday October 28. 1900-2300hrs 416 Wing Clubrooms. Guest Welcome Door Prizes, Spot Dances, Prizes Wear a costume or Orange and Black Admission is a non-perishable item for the food bank . 1 per person including guests

58 Squadron Kit Shop

Starting this week we will be offering Jackets, Hoodies and T-Shirts for sale. You may visit the squadron canteen for samples, sizing and pricing details. Orders will be taken by the canteen staff up until September 27, For cadets ordering - before cadets, at break, or after cadets For parents – anytime during the evening except break time Approx pricing is as follows: Jacket - $70.00 Hoodie - $45.00 T-Shirt - $ 15.00

Plans are that after the end of November the squadron Kit Shop will be linked to the squadron web site so you may order direct. Also planned are many more items such as hats, mugs, etc With this December being the 75 th year since we received our Charter in December 1941, each cadet will be sized for a T-Shirt with the squadron crest over the next 2 weeks at NO CHARGE!!

This is being made possible because of the 75th celebration and the fact that the cadets did a great job supporting the recent Tag Weekend.

------OPC TICKETS Each returning cadet is required to sell one book of OPC Tickets. The money and ticket stubs are to be returned this week. Please do not take the stubs off the cardboard backing. Money and stubs to be returned to the canteen to either Mrs Morris or Mrs Parkinson who will give you a receipt for them. ------
