***** April Meeting The April Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 12 at 5:30 PM at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Chesterfield, Missouri (17384 Chesterfield Airport Road). Students from local universities will be giving 5 to 10 minute oral presentations summarizing their research project, methodology, and results-to-date. The material for these presentations can be from independent studies, paid or unpaid internships, senior projects, graduate thesis or dissertation work, or other geoscience-related student research work. It is planned that a small honorarium will be provided to the best presentations. Judging will be based on good science practice, documentation, quality control, relevance to geoscience, and presentation. Cost will be $25 per member, $35 for non- members, $10 for students and those between jobs. Please RSVP prior to April 8 at http://www.aegstl.org/monthly-section-meetings/

***** AEG has asked for nominations for the following awards, prior to Friday, April 14, 2017.

Douglas R. Piteau Outstanding Young Member Award – This award is presented to an outstanding member of the Association who is below the age of 35 who has excelled singly or in combination in technical accomplishments, service to the Association and/or service to the engineering geology profession.

Claire P. Holdredge Award – This award is presented to a member(s) for a publication in the past 5 years that has been judged to be an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the profession of engineering geology.

Floyd T. Johnston Service Award – This award is given to a member of the Association who has provided active and faithful service to AEG for a period of at least 9 years. Current members of the Board of Directors and Executive Council are not eligible for nomination for this award.

***** AEG Members invited to Present at GSA’s Environmental & Engineering Geology Division (EEGD) at GSA Annual Meeting

The Geological Society of America (GSA) has invited AEG members to present and participate in both the GSA Section and Annual meetings in 2017. The 2017 GSA Annual meeting will be in Seattle, WA, on October 22-25. Topical session will focus on environmental and engineering geology. ***** AEG St. Louis Chapter Sponsors Needed The AEG St. Louis Chapter is looking for sponsors for our April 2017 meeting. Sponsorships are $300 per meeting. Please contact Jon Truesdale for more information ([email protected])

Benefits of being a Meeting Sponsor include: a 20-30 word summary in the newsletter, one or two PowerPoint slides to run on the slide-show loop that is projected in the dining room during the networking and dinner time, and if a representative of the sponsoring company attends the meeting, he or she will have two to three minutes to talk about their organization. Brochures, giveaways, table-top displays, and business cards are certainly welcome as well.

***** The winner for the 2016-17 Student Education Award will also be made at the April meeting. This is a $1,000 award that will be made to the winner’s financial account at his or her school. To be eligible for the award, students must attend at least one AEG St. Louis Chapter meeting. Students earn one chance for each meeting attended between October 2016 and April 2017. For example, attend the October, December, and March meetings for three chances; attend every meetings for six chances to win. This will be a random drawing, and the award will be made directly to the school’s financial office to benefit the winner’s tuition account. The more meetings you attend, the more chances you have.

***** Cardinals Tickets – Thursday, August 24 at 6:15 PM The AEG Gateway Chapter has arranged for a limited number of group tickets to see the Cardinals plat the San Diego Padres.
