Wound is defined simply as the disruption of the cellular and anatomic continuity of tissue integrity, that result in an opening or breaking of skin . The wound healing consists of integrated with region of strength of injured tissue. Approximately 15% of all people with diabetes will be affected by a foot ulcer during their life cycle1. Five years recurrence rates of foot ulcer are 70% , up to 85% of all amputation in relation relation to people with a diabetes wounds. People with a diabetes with one limb amputation have 50% risk of developing a serious lesion in the second limb within two year. About 15-20% of estimated 16 million persons in US hospitalized with foot complication due to Diabetes Mellitus . Unfortunately many of these patient will require amputation with the foot or above the ankle as a consequence of severe infection or peripheral ischemia1 . Plants and their extract have immense potential for the management and treatment of wound, Scientist who are trying to develop a newer drug , the wound healing process varies among different tissue type. plant and their extract have immense potential for the management and treatment of wound . Wound care and maintenance involve a number of measures including dressing and administration of painkillers, use of anti-inflammatory agents, topical and systemic antimicrobial agents and healing drugs2. Hence the current study will be undertaken to evaluate the activity of steroidal saponins of carica papaya in wound healing , by applying on externally3 6.2. REVIEW OF LITERATURE: The aim of treating a wound is to either shorten the time required for healing or to minimize the undesired consequences. Attention should be directed towards discovering an agent, which will accelerate wound healing. Several drugs from plants are known to possess wound healing activity. Wound healing herbals encourage blood clotting, fight infection and accelerate the healing of wounds. Some of these plants have been screened scientifically for evaluation of their wound healing activity in different pharmacological models and patients, but the potential of most remains unexplored .4 Healing impairment in burn injury is characterized by increased free-radicals-mediated damage, delayed granulation tissue formation, reduced angiogenesis and decreased collagen 3
