COMING OF AGE MOVIE TRAILERS – PORTFOLIO JOURNAL #1
To begin class today we will complete an explorative thought assignment. Our first unit is Coming of Age experiences and moments. In order to help us begin defining what "Coming of Age" means, we will view 5 or 6 movie trailers of films that are definitive Coming of Age examples.
As we view each trailer your task is as follows:
Complete this assignment in your class room notebook; record today’s date and title the entry Coming of Age Movie Trailers. For each trailer we view, explain what the film is basically about in 2 or 3 sentences. Try to create purposeful, detailed sentences. If you are successful with your descriptions, then your 2 or 3 sentences should capture the main idea of the film as well as a few interesting details.
After your 2 or 3 sentences, attempt to explain how this film could be considered a Coming of Age story. Based upon the story being previewed, do you have any ideas as to what might go into a Coming of Age story? Do other trailers maybe cover similar material or similar experiences?
