MEETING MINUTES BOARD OF DIRECTORS SAME ORANGE COUNTY POST

A meeting of the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Orange County (OC) Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) was held at the offices of Ninyo and Moore on Monday, June 4, 2007. Ron Everly, SAME OC Immediate Past President, called the meeting to order at approximately 11:55 am after lunch.
1. Introduction of New Post Administrator - Will Manker introduced Alicia Meza as the new Post administrator. Alicia will be taking over the prior duties of Sebrina Tomas. 2. Minutes Review - Draft minutes from the May 2007 BOD meeting were reviewed. The minutes were approved with minor modifications. 3. Discussion of Duties of Administrator - The BOD discussed a list of duties of the administrator. A list was generated previously and will be provided at the next BOD meeting. - Post Bylaws: A copy of the Post bylaws should be available at each BOD meeting. Jeff Davis will post the 2006 Post bylaws on the website. - Readiness Plan: The latest version is dated 2005 and should be updated. The Plan will be discussed at the next BOD meeting. - Post Membership and Email Distribution Lists: The BOD discussed that we need to reconcile both lists. The membership list is obtained directly from the SAME National database. The email distribution list contains the Post membership as well as monthly meeting attendees and other individuals obtained through networking contacts. Ron Everly will contact National to notify them of the new Post officers and determine who has access to the lists. Page 1 of 3 FINAL
4. Treasurer’s Report - Penny Cornwall, SAME OC Treasurer, was not in attendance but did send the monthly treasurer’s report. The account status is the following: o Checking $7,202.67 o Investment CD $14,460.31 o CD – 8 month (4.69%) $10,000.00 - The 2006 State and Federal taxes were filed and sent to the appropriate locations. 5. Summer Camp - John Cromwell reported that one student from Santa Ana High School, Robert Macias, will be attending the Seabees Engineering Construction Camp in Port Hueneme. The Post will not be sending any students to the Air Force camp in Colorado Springs. 6. Old Business - Website: Jeff Davis reported that the website is up-to-date. The monthly expenditures for website maintenance should be approximately $60-70. The sustaining members logos need to be placed on the website. 7. Program Committee Report - The BOD discussed the upcoming programs for 2007: o The calendar for the remaining monthly Post meetings is as follows: . June 28 – MCB Camp Pendleton – speakers: 1. Mr. Lupe Armas, AC/S Env Security, MCB Camp Pendleton 2. Mr. Russ Woody, Regional Plans Officer, MCI West 3. CDR Marshall Sykes, PWO, MCB Camp Pendleton 4. CDR Mark Geronime, Central IPT Leader, NAVFAC SW . July 23 – Angel Game; Raylene Brown ordered 75 tickets. 50 tickets will be donated to families at Camp Pendleton, 25 tickets will be sold to the Post membership. A representative from Camp Pendleton will be available to accept the donated Angel tickets at the June 28 meeting. John Cromwell will send out a memorandum to the BOD requesting a commitment to attend the game. The BOD discussed obtaining a corporate sponsorship for next year. . August 23 - UCI University Club, TBD; the group considered Dave Shuter as a possible speaker. . September 28 – Golf Tournament, Green River Golf Club; The BOD approved a reduced rate for military/government employees of $60. . October 25 - UCI University Club, Scholarship Meeting; This meeting will discuss the Seabee Camp as well as have a potential speaker from the Sherriff’s office.

. November 15 – Business Opportunity Symposium, Costa Mesa Hilton 1. Committee: Raylene Brown, Jim Carter, John Cromwell, Jeff Davis, Bob Yelin 2. Need speakers for this event. Keynote could potentially be BGEN Combs from Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos. Also, the committee is considering round-table discussions at the end of the meeting. . December 8 – Holiday Ball, Fort MacArthur 8. New Business - The topics listed in this category were not addressed due to time constraints. 9. Next Meeting - The next Board meeting will be at Ninyo and Moore’s Irvine office on Monday, July 2, 2007. Lunch sponsor for this meeting will be Faithful & Gould. - Meeting adjourned approximately 1:30 pm.
